It tastes like Chimay...if thatís the sort of thing youíre into. I was hoping it would be a little bit more complex than a malt forward, booze bomb. I have come to trust these guys, and I think this one probably hit their mark, but ití snot what I wanted.

Pours amber with minimal off white head. Aroma is spicy and sweet with notes of banana and clove. The taste is moderate to heavy sweet with boozy notes near the finish. Oily with medium carbonation and body. Well rounded beer.

Sweet smelling. Banana smell. Medium orange in color. Lots if flavor. Hints if banana with a rich caramel yeast flavor. Really tasty. Slightly expensive at $12 a sixer, but worth it. Buy it before its gone.

On tap at the old brewpub. I always want to pick some of this to age and it is always gone before I do. Big sweet, and boozy, what else do you want?!? :)

caramel, chocolate, deep brown color with no head, medium sweetness, thick feel, full body - this is one of my favorite beers from a too overlooked brewery. If you have the chance to try this on tap or in bottles donít hesitate. Just a bit sweet and not roasty at all, this beer is begging for a snifter.

Bottle pours burnt orange/amber with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of dried fig, raisin, caramel, and light spice. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of date, clove, and a touch of earth. Overall body is moderate and the finish is a little boozy.

Enjoyed on tap as part of a sampler at Ale Asylum in Madison, WI. Appearance is a whisky like brown with thin white rim. Aroma light, bit of caramel, little spice, faint. Taste is decent for the style, chewey, light prune, little bit of malt. Seems like a decent amount going on, my friend I went with didnít like it but since Iíve had the style in other varieties before, I kind of enjoyed it.

A purple-y ale dominated by plums and raisins in the nose and finish. Lightly carbonated and downright chewy once in the mouth, with a pleasant sweetness. Alcohol is well hidden. Enjoyed on draught at the Ale Asylum tap room.

On tap at Ale Asylum. Pours into a small goblet a very dark ruby, with scant brown and purple hints. Small off-white head, not much lacing to speak of. Nose is surprisingly muted, but I get candied plums, raw sugar, hint of nutmeg and other spices I canít quite place. Taste fairly well-integrated, with more dark fruits, more of a raisin presence, Belgian candy, and just a kiss of earthy funk. Lively mouthfeel from the effervescent yeast strain, but gives way to creaminess. Very little alcohol bite. Not bad.
