COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Richie Imperial Porter is powerful and complex. Made with roasted barley and chocolate malts, it balances sharper flavors with a clean, semi-sweet finish.

Graham cracker and roasty aroma. Black pour from draft at luckys in bucktown. Black with off white head. Sweet cocoa and bread malts. Pretty good

This is another good one from the fine fellows at ale syndicate. There was a day--and not too long ago--where you could call a brew like this an imperial stout and get away w/ it but, hey, it tastes just as good calling it an imperial porter. Itís a lovely garnet brown color w/ a small but creamy looking head of fine white bubbles. They did a nice job w/ the roasted grain on this one, very chocolatey in the nose and Iíd believe they put cocoa powder in there if you told me. I am also getting something of a cereal-type pale malt character through the roasted grains, which is a nice subtle touch. It is creamy on the palate and sweet but not cloying as the sweetness is given just enough balance by a light, tart, almost fruity note. It finishes failrly cleanly w/ most of the bitterness seeming to come from roast and some lingering coffee-w/-sugar notes. I might make a small complaint that at 8% there are definitely some more flavorful stouts and porters out there but all the flavor here is good and well and subtly used so I canít say that ruins my day or anything. Try this if you are a fan of porters. You will like it.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home watching Bears week 15 terrible football. Appearance is pitch black, moderate consistency, nice tan head but dissipated rather quickly. Aroma is a nice complex mixture of dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, vanilla, and light smoke. Taste is like a not-too-sweet espresso chocolate cake. Really fantastic stuff, would definitely have this one again.

Aroma chocolate, toffee, vanilla, and some smoke. Nice ebony color with a strong tan head. Rich, sweet roasted malt, up front. Sweetness mellows thought the finish. Notes of chocolate most dominant tone, nice. Finishes with a typical dry bitterness for the style. Solid.

355ml bottle. Dark cola-like pour, big off-white slightly tan head that sticks, not quite as creamy as pictured. The smell is absolutely classic, this isexactly what I want in a porter, cocoa, peat, dark fruit, root beer spice, honeycomb, just awesome. Flavor is also really nice with coffee notes, nicely bitter with cocoa and some peatiness, licorice, some spice notes as well. Not as balanced as a founders porter, nor as good but getting near that realm.

Solid moderate chocolate, liquorice, espresso, and dark bread notes. A tad earthy and leathery too. A nice Imperial Porter, straight to the point.

Smooth slight chocolate start with a black coffee and slight licorice finish. Strong alcohol flavor on this one. Pours black in color with a tan head. Had this one at home out of a 12 oz bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Pour is close to black with medium-sized tan head. Aroma is dry and earthy with notes of roasted grain, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. Taste is much like the aroma with more hop presence and a nice bitter/dry finish. A bit thin for the ABV, but this is a great imperial porter. Perfect to the style.

On tap @ Farmhouse. Dark brown, nearly opaque. Aroma centers around dark roasted malts, but the palate opens sweeter with chocolate and a little caramel, finishing with a dry burnt malt bitterness with ashy undertones. Solid.
