3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ElDesmadre (944) - Mikołów, POLAND - JUL 19, 2012
Bottle. Pours golden and hazy with a rather poor and disappointing head. Nice, crisp, sweet-sour aroma profile. Citrus, coriander, orange and some yeast and malt. This beer has potential that it fails to use fully. Namely, the carbonation is disappointingly low, which makes the somewhat thin mouthfeel and light aroma almost succeed in pushing this beer into watery territory. With higher carbo, this one would be very good.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Czik (22) - Siedlce, POLAND - MAY 31, 2012
Bottle from Piwonia, Warsaw. First batch. Not a very big head, as I expected. Smells sweet, citrusy and a bit spicy, strongly reminds me of orange peels. Colour is darker than a typical witbier, actually more orange, than yellow. Doesnt taste extremely pleasant at first, seems rather weird, but something in it calls out for taking a next sip, and the more you drink of it - the better it seems to taste. The orange peels that you can feel in the aroma are there in the taste, too. Carbonation is a bit too low - this beer could definitely use more bubbles in it, but hopefully they’ll fix it in their future batches.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Schroppfy (2350) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - MAY 28, 2012
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2012 I thought this was Pinta when I picked it up, but it must be the guys from the Polish beer website. Hooray! First rating! Well, the nose on this is all awesome: some spices but a heady bit of funk, cheesy, wheaty rind sourness in the aroma. I love this aroma. EXACTLY what I want in a witbier aroma. The pour is lively, the color is light dull orange, and the flavor is spicy but not overly so. Citrus flavors, with that sour wheat flavor you have to love. Not a spice bomb. A bit watery palated but what witbier isn’t? What an effort.
