Almost opaque dark brown beer, few pale tan bubbles for a head. Palate is semi dry and minerally crisp. The dark malts are not heavy but still convey some roast bitterness and mild dark chocolate. Trace of malt cream. Hops are a fairly light pine with a whisper of marmalade. Light dry finish. Bitterish chocolate linger.

330ml bottle from The Beerhive. Big foamy light tan head, good lacing, very very dark amber body, hint of ruby. Nose is toffee, a bit grass. Flavour is roast nuts, caramel, some citrus then big grassy bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is big, rich and creamy, light carbonation. Really easy to drink as well. Great stuff.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown pour with a beige head, roast malt aroma, taste is mostly roast malt, with a hint of pine, chocolate not the hoppiest of IPA’s

Bottle at home from alesela
pours slick dark brown with frothy tan head. Orange peel and dank hop oils on nose, gentle carbonation, fairly cocoa, roasty barley and some bitterness and those flavours hang about for a bit. Decent fist at a BIPA.

Bottle, bottle are dark brown black with a red edge. Some dark toasty maltiness inn the aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. treacly expresso with grass wood pine and a decent bitterness. Nice.

jamestulloch (1381) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 8, 2014
Bottle from The Beerhive. Coca-Cola body with a thin beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of pine and citrus. Flavour of fresh hops, a hint of chocolate and pine. Peppery alcohol burn on the finish. Very hoppy and bitter. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Not bad. Very raw, thin and bitter for a Black IPA though.

Scopey (6812) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2014
Bottle at home. It pours deep ruby-brown with a medium beige head. The nose is rich roast, chocolate, coffee, mocha, earthy and dirt. The taste is bitter, rich roast, toast, pine, varnish, charcoal, peppery grapefruit, soap, pervasive raw bitternes, cocoa and a touch of coffee with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. If anything its a bit too bitter. Solid stuff anyhow, just not quite finessed enough.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely white head. Nose - pine and mango. Taste - a short hit of mango but then straight into roast and a long coffee finish. Palate - medium bodied with a dry roast texture and a long dry finish. Overall - smells like an IPA and tastes like a stout with coffee.

Bottle from the beer hive. Dark brown with deep red hue. Medium tan head. Lots if pine and resin nose. Medium body, hoppy resinous taste. Bitter finish. Good stuff.
