Originally called “Cairnpapple”, this classic Alechemy recipe has been renamed “Ritual”. Ritual is a well-balanced light coloured refreshing IPA with a floral aroma leading to a lingering citrus taste.

bottle from oddbins. so that’s what’s become of the cairnpapple. fairly light, lots of biscuit, malt, grapefruit. there’s nothing not to like here, clearly i’ve become spoiled by choice that I can find this so pedestrian.

500ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish golden colour with average, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Biscuity malty aroma, citrusy hoppy overtones, mild gooseberry notes. Taste is minimally sweet malty, biscuity, dry hoppy overtones, a citrusy touch, gooseberry notes. Light, rather cautious flavours, almost a bit anaemic.

Bottle from Aldi. Pours a deep gold. No real head after pouring. Not enough in the aroma. Grassy caramel. Very light lemon. Good carbonation. Decent mouthfeel. Semi-sweet in taste. Little citrus bite. Quite dry on the finish. Needs more flavour from the hops. Ok...ish.

Pint on cask at The Old Chain Pier, Newhaven, Edinburgh; Looking out to sea on a sunny afternoon. Light golden with a perfect creamy head. Grassy fresh hoppy aroma. Citrus, decent maltiness with ample bitterness and a wee tad more. A nice IPA

Brewery says "Our flagship beer. Ritual is an IPA with a medium malt backbone giving way to refreshing bitterness, with a citrus and slightly spicy hop aroma. Available in: Cask & Bottle" Cask service at the Green Room in Perth, Scotland. Looks great with s super.durable.and very creamy white head. Bright amber with excellent clarity. Both the aroma and the taste are very herbal and somewhat resiny. Improved as i became acclimated to this unusual flavor.
