UPDATED: SEP 27, 2009 Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Northampton BF. A black coloured porter with an off-white loose head. The aroma is insanely hoppy for a British porter. Fantastic grapefruit notes together with a balancing roasty note. The taste has some sweetness and lactose character. Quite fruity for its style. Some very light roast. An incredibly interesting English porter.Score 3.8

cask at the Malting 14th annual beer festival, York: Black beer with tan head. aroma is of roasted malt with a hint of iquorice in the background. The flavor is dominated by iquorice, and I would even call this wattery iquorice juice, not porter. lacks body

Cask conditioned at Coventry Beer Festival. Black with slight tan head. A robust Porter indeed, particularly dry and tarry, with a hint of sour liquorice giving a tart finish. Heavy going but worthy of a good mark. Mouthcoating stickiness at the end.
