On tap at brewery. Dsrk brown pour, frothy head. Creamy nutty flavor. Toasted malts and a lot bitterness. Very good example of they style.

Nice change for the Cal ale yeast version. Still malty with a little more biscuity notes.

@ Alesmith. Red brown pour with tons of lacing. Chalky, dark chocolate nose. Taste is smooth with slight booze and lots of cream. Very easy to drink, but fairly complicated for a session beer.

Draft at Alesmith tasting room with Andrew, Brendan and the big boy daddy dad Bachelor, Dallas. Seems like we were lucky to get to try this sucker too. Pours a dark amber body with lacing. Mouthfeel is creamy with notes of chocolate, sweet malts, caramel...the reviews are starting to suffer from too many samples at this point...

On tap at Alesmith with Andy, James and Dallas for Dallas’ bachelor weekend. Brown pour with light brown head. Mouthfeel is not light, but silky and smooth with moderate carbonation. Sweetness on the palate, not much else. Very short legs. Not complex, but good.

On tap at the brewery with the bros for dallas’ bachelor party. Light brown, and taste is brown sugar and some light biscuit and caramel. Sessionable, somewhat of a brown ale style

Tap at brewery. Brown pour. Caramel malt, biscuit and light hop aromas. Flavor is a little sweeter than the regular anvil. Malt forward.

At AleSmith tasting room. Poured into plastic cup. Dark brown. Aroma is huge malt to the point of cat food (what?). Body is light. Mildly sweet beer. Decent, but I can’t get past the cat food.

2 year aged cask at the brewery. Still holding up admirably after all that aging. Subtle fruity aroma with light grain and earthy hops. Delicately phenolic with an excellent well-rounded flavor and a silken mouthfeel. A very fine cask beer and an unusual treat.

Had this on cask at the Wee Heavy Barrel Age release on 01/26/11. Pours brown with a thin head. Not much on the nose but malty on the taste. Not as bitter as the regular ESB. Very smooth on the palate.
