Commercial Description:
Bright copper color, sparkling clarity, and good foam retention when properly served. Appealing Brussels lace. Deep toasty/caramelly malt balanced by spicy/fruity hop flavors accented by fruit esters resulting from fermentation with a championship yeast strain. The aroma is subtle and reflects the flavor with malt, hop and fruit (ester)/fermentation characteristics. Smooth, medium-bodied. Easy drinking with no harsh or astringent sensations.

Had this one both from Cask at O’briens & draft from a 5 gallon party keg @ my brothers (Vac) & Abby’s (zug4abby) house warming party. Dark amber in the glass with an off-white head that leaves big chunky lacing. Nice hoppy and fruit aroma. Malty caramels in the flavor with a light roast and hop background. Medium body that is smooth and easy going. Very nice session beer.

cask- dark brown, white head. Extremely creamy, and not very carbonated due to the cask. Nutty, malty with mild hop presence. Delicious and extremely well balanced.

Bottle, at London tasting session, March 2007. Truth be told, I found this a little disappointing. Cloudy orange colour. Very malty aroma - tending toward bready. Just a touch of clammy hop. Sweetish on the palate. Again more malt than hop, leaving it feeling a bit short of grip. As some others who tried it at the tasting have suggested, this seemed a bit tired to me. Distinctly lacking in the hoppy zing that I’ve come to expect from US beers. I’d better give this another shot some time.

A sweet caramel/toffee aroma. The beer is a dark reddish amber color. More sweet toffee flavor with a mild balancing hoppiness. Medium bodied. Sweet and smooth. A nice beer.

In bottle and draft - taste of a little brown sugar and caramel was the highlight. Medium bodied and left a lot of lacing, which looked nice. Not a bad brew at all - nice balance and very drinkable.

Bottle from SDweeheavy i think. Poured a cloudy med brown color with a very light brown head. Had a light flowery hoppiness to it. The flavor was a little off. A little caramel maltiness.
