Commercial Description:
Bright copper color, sparkling clarity, and good foam retention when properly served. Appealing Brussels lace. Deep toasty/caramelly malt balanced by spicy/fruity hop flavors accented by fruit esters resulting from fermentation with a championship yeast strain. The aroma is subtle and reflects the flavor with malt, hop and fruit (ester)/fermentation characteristics. Smooth, medium-bodied. Easy drinking with no harsh or astringent sensations.

Looks a lot like iced tea. Small head lace. Light fruit aroma with some spicy hoppiness. Somewhat cirusy with a good malt backbone. Again it reminds me of iced tea with a lot of lemon.

A strong bitter. Very good and worth trying. Floral hops and sweet maltiness. Does have a prominent bitter presence.

Bottle: Courtesy of Foolish_Mortal thru a trade. Lots of caramel in the aroma with a nice flowery hop balance. Pours a hazy reddish-orange with a small white head. Flavor is mostly caramel with a nice flowery hop balance, just like the aroma. A light citrus character in the background in the finish. Caramel malt lingers into the aftertaste more so than the hop finish.

Nice copper color with a creamy off white head. The aroma is a mix of malt and hop. Some sweet and slightly roasty malts and mild piney hop aromas. The flavor has a distinct creamy malt profile which is followed by a mild bitterness. Malt develops with some roasted character. The finish is light to medium bodied.

Amber with disapearing beige head. Hints of sweetnes in the aroma. Good balance bettween hops and malt. High drinkability. Soft and smooth with a good lingering aftertaste.

22 oz bottle. Pours a pretty copper color with good (but not brilliant) clarity. Almost no head, which is typical of a good ESB. (See BJCP.org for style guildlines.) Rich in flavor, leaning more toward caramel malt, yet there’s a good balance of undetermined hoppiness. Overall, this is a superb ESB, just as I would expect from AleSmith.

Smooth, honey, well balanced, goes down smooth. Thought it would be more hoppy. Would make for a good everyday beer.
