COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bright copper color, sparkling clarity, and good foam retention when properly served. Appealing Brussels lace. Deep toasty/caramelly malt balanced by spicy/fruity hop flavors accented by fruit esters resulting from fermentation with a championship yeast strain. The aroma is subtle and reflects the flavor with malt, hop and fruit (ester)/fermentation characteristics. Smooth, medium-bodied. Easy drinking with no harsh or astringent sensations.

Tap at the source. Clear chestnut color. Aroma of caramel and light summer fruit. Taste is bittersweet, but a bit unbalanced. Average.

Bottle. Thanks to BMan1113VR! Pours lightly hazy caramel amber, thick persistent off-white head, spotty lacing. Nose is citrus hops, spice, earth, caramel/toffee, light tropical fruit, some odd yeasty/estery notes that I’m not exactly digging. Flavours of earth, swert toffee and fruit, some real boiled vegetables throughout... You know, the more I drink this, the less I like it. I’m a HUGE Alesmith fan, but I kinda hate the shit outta this. This is genuinely unpleasant. Ass, I’ll pass.

Dark brown thin head slightly hazy. Very strong hop aroma. Very English hops in the aroma. Wow! Now that is a bitter . Lots of English hops grassy, malty and sweet. With lots of caramel. Very nice beer. Not a typical ESB. More like an ESB on steroids but i like.

How is this a 100 in the ESB style? I was all geeked up to try this brew, but it let me down! First off..."sparkling clarity"? It’s a ruddy iced tea color. Foam retention? Ya know what, I think I got the wrong beer. Anyway, aroma is quite appealing, with heavy toast, caramel/sugar, and pale sweet fruit. Flavor is wild ride, and not at all what I was expecting. Mouth-puckering bitterness comes along with champagne yeast and fruity hops. Balance seems to be way off on this one, lacking the malty backbone alluded to by the smell.

Full bodied beer. Lots of toffee and a little chocolate. Bold english hops. Like a craft Old Speckled Hen.

Pours amber color and has a huge light tan head. The aroma is a strange mix between tang and brown sugar with an awkward weirdness. Taste is sort of stale and apple-y but has a very apparent extract note. Medium body, but pretty true to style. Got better as I drank more. Still not great.

Bottle from Secret Summer Santa. Bad band-aid nose, oxidized and astrigent. Stale and Extracty, a touch of fruit, bitter, mildly. After breathing a bit, the flavors mellowed, lots of caramel with some fruit, a mild toastiness. Not bad. A little put off by the initial nose.
