I keep this beer around. I show it to friends, I foist it on houseguests, I consume it like butter. It’s almost like candy sometimes. Nonsense!

GABF 2011. Very dark nutty copper, nice creamy off beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, pecan and caramel. Flavor had some nice nutty caramel toffee tone, with a nice bitter finish. Balanced and lovely.

I had very low expectations for this beer, thought ’how good could a bitter be?’. Turns out the answer is pretty good. Looks incredible, pours chestnut red with off white head. Aroma has nuts, floral notes, caramel and a touch if citrus. Similar taste, incredibly well balanced. Slightly sweet with enough bitterness to clean away. This beer could possibly be seen as boring or possibly the work of genius. I’d say the latter. Excellent
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bmerz (224) - New York, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Seriously good looking beer with a deep mahogany color and a huge full pint lasting head that jiggles above the rim of the glass. Aroma is clean deep malt and orangey hop. Flavor is mildly sweet with a little citrus acidity and bitterness. Full soft palate that dries quickly and cleanly. I think it is better and certainly fresher than any English ESB I’ve had in the US or my limited opportunities in the UK. It seems to be an fair representation of the style. I could very happily drink this all night.

This is the first real beer i have tried. I spent most of my life just drinking MGD, Mickeys and those type of beers. I cam across this website and decided i would go get myself a good beer and see what i have been missing out on. I found out AleSmith was reputaple and was very near me so i went down and picked up this and two others. I enjoyed this one alot. It poured an ambery/light brown with a small tan head. Flavor had a hint of caramel and some others. Overall i enjoyed this much more than any of the "piss beers" and cant wait to try more.

22oz bottle from Bevmo Carmel Mountain. Beer pours a burnt orange/ copper color, head was medium sized and off white. Nice lacing. Nose was malty (caramel, toffee, raisiny), and also hoppy (grapefruit, pine and grass). Nice easy mouthfeel with a slightly bitter finish. A great one!

cask- dark brown, white head. Extremely creamy, and not very carbonated due to the cask. Nutty, malty with mild hop presence. Delicious and extremely well balanced.
