Bottled. A pitch black with a lazing brown head. The aroma has strong notes of chocolate, alcohol, and over ripe fruits, as well as lemon. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of dark chocolate, alcohol, over ripe fruits, and some wood, leading to a dry bitter and alcoholic finish. Nice one. Thanks KimJohansen for sharing.

Papsoe (25072) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 26, 2009
Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of KimJohansen. Clear dark brown with a tint of red and a small beige head. Distinct whiskey aroma that overpowers pretty much anything else. Solid body, hard roasted malts and sweet accents of licorice allsorts, but again everything is overpowered by the distinct Bourbon notes. Some hard roasted malts in the finish, but not really any hard roasted malts. Not much Porter left but I really dig the heavy Bourbon. 231109

Tasting at Jack’s RAH Annexe! Thanks again to Paul for allowing me to delete this one from ’the want but never gonna get’ box. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate. Dry rich dark malts balance well with vanilla oak. Spicy bourbon and mild dark chocolate. Light dry finish. Warming afterglow. The old BA is alive and well and potent.

Bottle courtesy of tarheels86, with a little help from Jean van Roy. Pours very dark brown, small beige head with good retention. Aroma of wood, vanilla, nuts, dates, alcohol. Taste is very smooth and mellow, very rich and roasty, with alcohol showing through. Good stuff.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2014 Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Paul. Pours dark brown with a bubbly tan head. The nose has lots of dried dark fruits, dates and figs, cherries, wood, vanilla. Medium to big sweet flavor, lots of aged fruits, berries, toffee, some burnt marshmallow, vanilla pods, mild burnt wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, further vanilla, toasty cocoa, earth, wood, raisins, some leathery fruits. Excellent. Has aged incredibly well.
