[Rating 3,000!!!] Bottle... Poured deep, dark brown with a thin head. This was intense. A hint of infection but this imperfection really worked well here. Nose came off phenolic, almost reminded me of peat in scotch. Taste wise, mild acidity, tart berry-like fruits, vanilla, other dark fruits, and a bit sweetness. Still a bit boozy. Big time notes of oak and whiskey as well.

Thanks Ibrew2or3-750 bottle-pours an off white head with bubbles and brown color. Aroma is medium malt-leather, earthy, cocoa, dark fruit. Taste is slight vinegar up front, medium malt-leather, earthy, cocoa, dark fruit.

Bottle shared by ZX6Chris at Toronado, thanks! Pours a murky brown/red color with a small white head. A sweet rich nose of caramel and dried fruit, light sour edges. The flavor is a battle between a solid rich BW with caramel and toast, fruity, dry, but the tartness gets in the way without helping much. Both flavors are disjointed. Light bourbon. Quite good, would have been amazing without the sourness.

A - dark amber, rootbeer, thin sheet of khaki head.
S - cherry, toffee, vanilla, oak.
T - dark fruits, caramel, light sourness lingers.
M - medium body, light carbonation, slight sour and tannic finish.
O - A really interesting "intentional" infection that worked very well. It was actaully one of my favorites at a bottle release tasting.

#295. Pours copper with a white head. Smells of vanilla, some dark fruit, some cognac, light spice. Tastes of dry oak, dark fruit, earthy, some tartness on the finish. Enjoyable.

A-carmelesque body with white whispy head around the edges...
S-Bourbon mixed with a nice malt backbone
T-follows the nose nicely with a night bit of sour tang towards the end. The sourness works for it. The barrel isn’t as distinqueshed as I thought it would be. Sourness comes out as it warms up
M-medium. Body and smooth
O-goes down in taste as it warms up, but not much

murky pecan stained woody color with a tan head which takes quite a while to work up.
the nose wreaks of lactic sourness... sauerkraut, soured raisins, malty sweetness, multi vitamins and chocolate.
it tastes like raisin soubise.... which i like when it is not supposed to be beer. 5/4/4/3/12

Bottle number 53 of 443. Pours a watery, translucent copper with some spitty, white head. Whoa! Nose is really sour, sour oranges, some raisin, light wood, cherry, celery root. Flavor has raisins, brandy, celery, cider, some weird brown sugar, vanilla. Medium bodied, flabby finish. Unconventional? Definitely. This is badly infected. This will not get better with age. I love Alesmith but this one is a drain pour.

750 ml poured at Zwanze Day - WLV (Chicago, IL). Pours a murky brownish pour, a frothy tannish head dies to a loose bubbly head, laces ok. Aromas are sweet toffee, a touch of salt, oak, Bourbon, and butterscotch. Faint spice, dark fruit, and marmalade. Some good vanilla. Very sweet overall. Initial oranges, toffee, caramel, and vanilla tannins. Oak, Bourbon, and touches of sweetness, some gentle spice. Some really sweet caramel, toffee, butterscotch, vanilla in parts. Backend throws touches of toast, more toffee, some gentle spice, lingering barrel tannins, orange marmalade. Fairly sweet, lingering citrus, toffee. Finish is a bit sticky, vanilla, butterscotch, sweetness grows witha. Touch of ABV heat. Overall, a well aged barrel aged beer. I wouldn’t call it earth moving but it certainly is well aged and has a few layers. Very nice. A bit sweet, but certainly has held up well. I didn’t really get sourness, perhaps a good deal of fruit, but sourness seems absent.

Shared by someone at Zwanze day 2011 Chicago, thanks. Pours a hazy golden brown with a yellow brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of sweet grains, caramel with a lot of sweet bourbon. Flavor is extremely sweet with grains and caramel with some salt and sweet bourbon in the finish.
