3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
[6206-20140228] Bottle. Fruity toasted cherry and raisiny fruit aroma. Murky, dark brown red body with a quick bubbly off-white head. Chewy fruity citrus-infused malt grain flavour. Medium-full body. Good but overpowering toasted fruit at first. (7/3/7/4/14) 3.5

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014-02-28. Hazy dark amber brown body with a small beige head. 3++ Aroma is sweet and fruity, notes of raisins, sweet malt base. Flavour is quite sweet, fruity, it has a lightly tangy undercurrent throughout but especially in the finish, sweet raisins, possible light oxidation? Smooth average plus bodied palate, modest carbonation. Nice but I suspect it is a bit past its prime. Bottle shared by Blankboy

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks blankboy. Deep amber ruddy pour with a thin head. The nose is awesome - some bright raisin and grapey sweetness along with a bit of oxidized malt character. Bright and raisiny with a lot soft fruit. Some soft apricot and a bit of juicy berry. Lingering barrel character with some soft fruit. Very tasty.

bottle 659, super bourboney nose, intense fruit flavor in the finish.Wow leaves a super deep oak taste on the back of your tongue. This is the way barrel aged beers should taste

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle number 43. Light brown pour with an off white head. Caramel and brown sugar aromas. Damn, this bottle is infected. In the background you can make out the sweet caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruit notes. However, their enjoyment is diminished by the big sour notes upfront.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a soft reddish amber with two fingers of sandy tan head. Nose is very malty, shows a light tartness and oyster sauce character. Prune and raisin and dried fruit all over the place. Lots of toffee and burnt sugar/caramel. Full bodied with a light carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
always nice to see decadence, and even better when its a barreled variety .. . deep tan .. lots of puffy lacing spots .. . caramel, toffee, plum, and booze .. . slick and tart mouthfeel .. . an alright beer but the tartness detracts from the enjoyment .. . . watch what happens when I spill this blue liquid...

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at RBWG. Swore I had rated this before (and know I have had this "sour" batch 3-4 times) so it’s getting entered this time. Metal stained orange brown with a small sudsy off white head. Nose is sweet, lots of oak, plenty of vinous woody sourness, brown sugar, light dark fruits. Flavor is similar, sourness overrides what would surely be more oxidized notes which would actually be pleasant in this style of barley wine. Oh well, fun to try this semi-rare bottle. Thanks to beercellar? for this gem!
