4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at AleSmith tasting room. Pours a deep brown colour, hazy with a big beige head. Aroma is not as strong as the regular nut brown ale but there is distinct oak presence within it that likely mutes some of the other scents. Taste is malty sweet with less perceptible bitterness than the regular nut brown ale. Really creamy on the palate, softer carbonation , and medium bodied. A very nice barrel aged beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Takes away a touch of complexity from the really nice base beer, but also adds layers of vanilla, bourbon and wood. Call it a wash, perhaps. All versions Iíve had are quite good. On tap @Alesmith.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
28 July 2015, tap at AleSmith. Brown/black. Nose is sweet, lightly nutty, sweet wheat bread, some bourbon oak. Full body and mildly fizzy. Sweet, ovaltine, bourbon. Itís weird, this is the lowest abv beer Iíve ever had that was barrel aged. Iím realizing that alcohol and sugars contribute so much more to these beers than I realized. This is okay but not great.
