sloth (1540), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Feb 19, 2005 The whisky aromas announce themselves on the pour with restrained citrus notes backing them up. The small tan head is lasting, whispy and creamy. Other aromas follow, fruit, hints of vanilla and wood, nice. Lightly hazy rust brown color. Med/full bodied, slick with a gentle, prickly carbonation. Medium sweet malts work well with the whisky overtones and lightly citrus hop flavors. A grainy maltiness and fruityness appear as it warms, more vanilla, grainy malts and understated notes of warming alcohol also. A rather complex brew. Finish is dry, fruity, whiskyish and lasting. Many thanks to SDbruboy for this major treat! Thanks Cliff! Wish i had another to sit on for awhile.
teamrassas (9), USA does not count Nov 29, 2008 Not a bad thing to say about this barely wine. Its super smooth medium bodied and very very good to drink. Full of malted sweetness coated with oaky vanilla in a very long finish dalekliz (292), San Diego, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 2006 Bottle, shared at WeeHeavySD’s Halloween tasting. Pours a hazy amber-brown with no head. Rich sweet aroma of malt, bourbon, brandy, wood, dark fruits, molasses, and a hint of spices and herbs. Taste is sharp and sweet, of malt, wood, bourbon, molasses, chocolate, dark fruits. Lingering sharp malt and wood sweetness. Amazing. shadey (1365), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 31, 2008 750ml bottle shared with my roommate Don, to celebrate my thesis defense. Bottle 83/240. 4 years old.

Dark toffee color with wispy white head of cream. The aroma is really complex. I keep getting different scents. Toffee and figs, caramel and spices. The flavor profile is equally complex, but the flavor is where I start to notice the bourbon. As it begins to warm, the flavors of bourbon and alcohol start to move to the front of the flavor profile. The body is about perfect and the flavor profile is very complex. Definitely a quality production. 8/3/8/5/17 lb4lb (1546), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 26, 2008 Thanks to thickfreakness for sharing this badass beer!
Pours a rich muddy brown color with light beige head. Smell is very oaky with light bourbon to go along with some rich, almost nutty malt. Taste is very oaky and bright with some dry light vanilla flavor and bourbon with a bit of lightly warming booze. This was pretty tasty, but I thought the oak was a bit stronger than I would have liked. Thanks for sharing this one! thickfreakness (125), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 13, 2008
Thanks to bgramer for this awesome bottle. This was a 2006 bottle number 58 of 208.

I was saving this one for a special occasion but my hand was forced today with this one. I was moving things around in my beer fridge and this puppy fell an entire 1 foot to the floor and began to spew everywhere. Luckily only a few ounces were lost and I could salvage most of it to drink.

Pours a hazy amber/ruby color with little to no head. Its so thick in the glass it almost has legs. Aroma is an amazing mix of bourbon and malts; sweet vanilla honey, oaky tannins, nutty, creamy/buttery, ripe pit fruit. The aroma really reminds me of the 2003 Utopias I enjoyed over the course of the summer. Flavor isn’t as good as the smell but still pretty good; harsh oak at first before warming then some of the more subtle flavors begin to come out: vanilla, fruit, alcohol, nuttiness. At warm temp it was still dominated by the oak but it began to mesh more and it became quite delicious. Extremely dry finish and viscous mouthfeel with not too much carbonation. An excellent offering from Alesmith.
