2006 #187/233 thanks to fordest. Black pour with a thin khaki head that dissipates fast. Nose of smooth vanilla and roasted coffee. Very very smooth with roasted malts and great vanilla and bourbon notes.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Thanks to hapjydeuce via trade. Pours black as night into my snifter. Head is thin dark brown that stay around for a while. Good lacing on the glass. Aroma is amazing. Huge bourbon ,burnt caramel, tobacco, dark fruits, and coffee. I think this may have the most complex aroma I have ever had the pleasure of smelling.Medium to Full bodied with a somewhat oily texture. Heavy sweetness to moderate bitterness. I think I am going to move to San Diego and its not for the weather. Amazing stout. Thank you Alesmith.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
2006 bottle shared with half owner Eric. Pours an almost black color with a fairly big bubled brown head. God this shit is good. Aroma has tons of chocolate and bourbon followed by molasses, roasted malt and some coffee and oak notes. Flavor is full, rich and goddamn good. Bourbon integrates so well in this beer it is ridiculous. Coffee notes in the nose aren’t really evident on the tongue...but the wood, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, brown sugar, molasses and slight hop bite is noticeable in every sip. The progression from cold to warm is quite amazing in this beer...a real gem. Hell yeah.

great brew the barrel aging really mellows this one out. Not much coffee coming through but really smooth, vanilla oak notes.Worth the effort and a great BDay treat. Chocolaty expresso greatness. Recommend if you’re ever lucky enough.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rich, dark chocolate body and mind-blowing aromas of oak and ethyl character, bordering on cleaning fluid. Rich chocolate, malt, and alcohol veins assault the palate. Again, the infiltration of ethyl/cleaning fluid finish detracts. INTENSE.

750, capped and foiled. ’06. #102/230. Thanks, BitBucket! Jet black. Loose, swirly burnt tan head. Huge sweet vanilla chocolate bourbon coffee nose. Creamy medium body. Thick swirling pruny, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon mid-palate. Long sweet chocolatey finish. Really a beautfiully complex and elegantly integrated beer. Tastes absolutely wonderful.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to Hophead22. Bottle number 71/447. Poured pitch black with not much head if any. Aroma was very nice with dark fruits, chocolate and coffee with a touch of bourbon. Taste was oak, vanilla, lots of dark fruits, sweet chocolate, but coffee was weak compared to regular Speedway. This was very smooth and and easy to drink considering the 12% alcohol but Personally I agree with Gabe. I would rather have a regular Speedway Stout over the BA. Big Up’s to Tim for sending this my way.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by wolf. Thanks brother... Bottle 71/447. Poured into a snifter. Black as it gets. I could see my own reflection in it. Not much head. Nice aroma of dark fruits and chocolate. Taste was much sweeter then the regular speedway. I couldnt pick up on any barrel aged characteristic.... It doesnt have the coffee backbone that makes speedway so great. Lots of dark fruits in the taste. Good texture. Overall...this was the first beer from alesmith that has dissapointed me. It was good just not great. Thanks again wolf for sharing

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
750ml bottle, #70/447 2007 version. Another dark black impy. Virtually no head to speak of. Subtle bourbon and vanilla notes, very nice. Oakey, with vanila and bourbon as well, very smooth with a little alcohol in the finish. This gave me a happy ending. Wow.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle shared by ajm at the 09er as the clear centerpiece. 2007 vintage, 86/447. Pours charcoal with a sugary brown head. Smells like BCS. Tastes almost like The Dark Knight Returns. The combination is as mellow as a qualude. Its like the barrel served as a cacoon and the beer went in as coffee and came out like bourbon spiked date juice. Truly amazing.
