COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blarney Stoned is a smooth brown ale with an accent on complex malt flavors. The 6.5% alcohol is deceptive and there is a slight spiciness in the finish. The recipe and process may sound exotic, but the flavor is enticing. Appearance: Chestnut brown, with a tan head. Aroma: The aroma starts with the sweet smell of malt, and a light balance of hops. Flavor: Starts with a little spiciness, but gently fades to a soft, malty flavor with almost nutty overtones. A nice, balanced medium-dry finish leaves you wanting more. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Feels light and lively at first, then gently fades to a gentle warmth from the relatively high alcohol content.

Very subduded hop nose with a faint touch of malt. Much of the same with a bit of sweet caramel. Some resinous hops. Impressive hideing of the 6.5 abv. A bit too subdued in all fronts for my tastes.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2005 Brown and cloudy with a sweet candy-like chocolatey aroma with hints of mint leaves and nuts...the flavors were a medley of minty hops and a nutty malty toffee-like chewiness...in sum, toffee candies and mint gum combine in a nicely hopped nutty brown ale with a buttery toffee feel to it and notes of mint popping out everywhere...

Damn was I glad to finally get a shot at trying this fine beverage. Dirty brown color with some nice moderate head, and it really looks like there is some grey in the color, but would that even be possible. Had a malty, nutty, even some peanut brittle in the aroma. The flavor followed right up the ass of the aroma, only a little bit more of the nutty notes. Damn good combination, I thought it would have some caramel in it, but i could not find it. Actually smelled like a payday.

Vey cool way of making this beer, and very good to drink to boot. Very smooth mouthfeel. I have tried this one off cask and keg and both were fantastic. very well balanced beer in all aspects. the flavor changes in your mouth from slight spice to smooth, sweet maltiness. The alcohol leaves the mouth a little dry and warm but that is the only time the alcohol is noticed...until you stand up after several of them.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2007 3/14/02: Gusler, this has to be the closest I have tasted to the perfect brew. 3/14/03: Pours a deep mahogany color with a medium tan head. Nose is sweet and malty. The taste is sweet and rich with a hint of burnt caramel, a slight hop bite and a light dry finish. A hint of cocoa in the aftertaste.
