You’re fucking out Alex! Hazy dark caramel brown with a ring head around the edge of my snifter. Brown sugar, caramel (yeah, I know it is basically the same) prune and earthy peatiness with some leather and tobacco lingering in the weeds. My god, this is tasting nice. The oxidation is playing so well here. Dark fruit and tobacco and caramel just hitting on all fronts. Thanks Ben! after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Sep 27, 2009 750, capped and foiled. thanks, suzygreenberg! pours an opaque ebony with a dense creamy tan head. big dark fruit, roast, and molasses nose. creamy medium body with softly understated carb. bounteous
mid palate of figs, raisins, molasses and roasty malt all over the place. amazingly complex and harmonious. beautiful. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Sep 26, 2009 750 ml bottle - purchased in 2005 and kept in my basement at a fairly stable temp since then. Pours a fairly clear ruby red color with smallish tan head that dissipates fairrly quickly. Aroma is full of nutty caramel, notes of herbal hops, fresh pears, orange and lemon zest, roasted apples and brandy soaked raisens, faint bourbon notes, light untoasted oak, touch of chocolate. Flavor is fairly nutty, lots of toasted caramel, light oak, herbal hops, faint chocolate notes. Finish is mildly sweet, with a bit of alcohol warmth as it drops down. Overal this is a very nice brew. I had a bottle a couple of years ago, but didn’t rate it at the time. It still has a bit of alcohol strength to it, but more smooth than when last I tried it. The nose is nicely complex, and although the flavor does not quite match the aroma, it is still very nice. A quality brew, that has aged well and I am sure is not yet at its peak. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Sep 21, 2009 Bottle from Stuffed Sandwich split by Shyam. Nose of thick grapey malt, dark chocolate and oxidation. Color is a reddish black purple. Flavor is very thick malt, fruit syrup, slight chocolate, and reminiscent of both Speedway and Dec 06 in its yeast character and texture. Staved off oxidation like nobody’s business. nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 14, 2009 750ml bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar at the DC Local Gathering. Big bourbon aroma. Brownish-black color. Some creamy porter-like qualities with strong alcohol and bourbon nuances throughout. A slow sipper, to be savored. Thick and syrupy finish, some mild heat. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2009 Thanks SoLan. You the man! Cloudy brown. Aroma of dark fruits, black licorice and brown sugar with a nice alcohol kick. Still drinking nicely. Awesome. Todeon (315), Sweden Jul 13, 2009 Sampled, not really a fair rating. Pretty much dominated by caramel and toffee in the aroma with some sweet malt to, Taste was a bit boozy with lots of sweet malt, ripe dark fruit and caramel. Some burnt sugar aswell.
