The aroma was of alcohol and caramel, hard to pick up. The flavor was of lightly bittered malts featuring caramel, light whiskey, some dry figgy-ness, light brown sugar or molasses, faint wood, and a sharp but not overdone alcohol zip that was mildly warming. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Bought this bomber from BevMo in Mission Valley back in October. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin tan head. Caramel, hops, and sweet malts spring from the aroma. Very potent! Sweet, brown sugar taste as well as some hops and caramel malt. A hint of alcohols as well. Overall a really good beer from Alesmith. I was impressed! decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 28, 2006 Dark amber almost brown. A sweet rich aroma of malt. Served at about 60*. It has a rich smooth tast of malt and alcohol. At this temperature this beer didn’t lose anything in its palate and warm it makes the malt and alcohol mesh well. YUM aracauna (2427), Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2006 A dark brown body with not a lot of head. The aroma is very big caramel and the fruitiness of overworked yeast. Prunes. Dates. This is a very malty, very alcoholic beer. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 22, 2006 A brown appearance with a huge malty aroma. Lots of dark fruit, brown sugar, molasses, whiskey, and cherries in the flavor. Complex to the say the least. The finish is sweet and syrupy. Great stuff! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2006 Amber colour with a nice off white head. Malty aroma with some spicy hops. Great flavour of malt and hops with notes of chocolate, brown sugar, caramel and toffee. Ends with a warming feeling from the alcohol. Strong and flavourful. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 14, 2006 I opened this out of paranoia. That’s gotta be a first. I’m going on a plane tomorrow, and a case of Alesmith I had sent back with someone else had a bottle break. I evenlucked out and got an inspection paper. Since I’ll never get this one again and I because as a white male I might quality as a terrorist, I decided to open it. Poured a murky dark amber body with a fairly large head. Although, I did pour this like a complete jackass since the glass I’m using holds over 1L. The first scent of the aroma says ’hello, I’m at least 10% abv.’ And.. it is. Aroma is like an Imperial Strong English Ale. Alcohol, caramel, some darker fruits, minor hops, and probably more. Came off with a fairly sweet but alcoholic finish. I think their ’championship’ yeast strain helped save this one from complete disaster. If I find another bottle I’ll age it 5 or so years and see what happens. But, it was still better than the last Decadence I had... Weyerbachers.
