Commercial Description:
Imperial Evil Dead Red Ale (also known as Dead by Dawn)

Alesmith's Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our Anniversary. The second release in the Decadence series, Dead by Dawn, was inspired by our own seasonal specialty ale, Evil Dead Red. What if we made it bigger, bolder and even more evil? The result is Decadence 2006 Dead by Dawn, a devilicious auburn-colored ale with a complex sweet caramel maltiness balanced by the just the right amount of hop bitterness. Dead by Dawn showcases an enticing hop flavor and intense hop aroma that rounds out this rich, full-bodied ale. Join our Anniversary Celebration with Decadence. You'll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find Legendary Craftsmanship.

Bottle, thanks to Chuck and WeeHeavySD!!! Poured a deep, wonderful cap of creamy beige head. Aroma picked up a whole bunch of spruce and pine hoppiness above caramel and toffee sweetness.. very well-hopped with a toasted malt array beneath. Flavor picked up a great array of fantastic elements... spruce and pine over toasted caramel and drier caramel elements at the core.. more toasted darker fruits emerge toward the finish.. sweet, strong, and very enjoyable! This was a great beer!

Pours a ruby red with brown highlights and a big fluffy tan head that disintegrates shortly. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, grapefruit (covered in sugar), and pineapple. The fruity hops are more inviting than a harsh earthy onslaught. Becomes faint as the carbonation dies. Really nice flavor upfront, big and sweet with lots of caramel, brown sugar, burnt toffee, woody hops and a hints of old citrus. Finishes with more hop flavor than bitterness, sweet citrus, cake, pie crust, and wood. Aftertaste is wonderful and goes on and on. Texture is almost Belgian in nature, but the carbonation is a bit less prickly. Chewy and not heavy. I enjoyed this more than I ever thought I would enjoy an "imperial red."

Hazy red with a loose tan head. Giant sticky caramel and hop aroma. Supporting malt and hop flavor which are also huge and amazingly well balanced. Perfect example of a huge hopped up american ale that is well balanced. Bravo!

An old rating i finally got to entering. Poured a brown reddish with a tan head. Aroma had a real thick body to it but not cloying really at all. I kind of cut off my rating here.
