The aroma is malty and roasty with a but if coffee and some toffee. The taste and the finish is ther this beer excels. The taste is roasted coffee with sweet alcohol finish but there is a definite coffee presence. The mouth feel is medium. This is a very good beer which I think is better than the original Decadence but not up to last year’s effort. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA

It’s slighlty sweet with roasted coffee and bitter sweet chocolate notes as well as an underlying malt note and alcohol esters. Full Bodied, warming and a touch dry. sleepylopes (313), New York, USA

Aroma is porter through and through. Nice coco and goldings, that also provide the finish. Silky and rich with dark Munich malts. Touch of dark sugar as well. The aroma is beguling, undulating with chocolate and roasted malt, undertones of dark fruits and some brown sugar. Flavor is intense yet balanced. The chocolate comes through on the finish. Tasty stuff... juiceisloose (671), Windermere, Florida, USA

Pours a dark brown almost black with a small tan head. The nose shows huge amount of dark and milk chocolate along with some vanilla and caramel as well. The flavor is much the same with the chocolate and caramel malts up front along with some oak and hop bitterness on the back end. The mouthfeel is medium almost full bodied and creamy that goes down really smooth with a chocolaty finish. This is a great beer. Beerlando (2313), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 12, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Pours the darkest possible mahogany brown with a foamy beige head. Looks thick-bodied in the glass. Settling slowly to a bubbly edge, the foamy leaves some soapy, spotty lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is ultra-chocolaty, showing both bitter dark and sweet milk varieties, as well as massive notes of caramel, oak, and vanilla. Flavors are rich and luxurious, with chocolate and caramel malts dominating. Earthy hops and a quirky nuttiness provide balance, but the malts really shine here. The body is nearly full, almost chewy, and very smooth. Drinks incredibly easy for a beer of its stature. Really, really good right now, this will only improve with time. Another great beer from AleSmith. hophead75 (1954), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 10, 2008 Sampled at Dickinsonbeer’s Hoboken Gathering. Dark brown in color, almost black. Aroma is alot of chocolate- light roast, molasses, and dark fruit. Taste is chocolate, dark fruit, and molasses, with light roast and a medium hop bitterness. The fruit character is very nice, almost like raisins and cherries. Body is medium full and there’s a moderate amount of alcohol in the finish. This stuff is going to age very well IMHO. jarspag (595), Los Angeles, California, USA

Bold but mellow...a balance of intense flavors sustain drinkability to perfection. Deep, dark chocolate combine a roasty, dry bittering finish. Long and captivating. Straightforward but never boring. I enjoyed this one thoroughly!
