I chose this one to drink on our 8th wedding anniversary. I knew my husband would love it!! Pours a nice rich reddish brown with a creamy head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and some light smoke. Very creamy mouth feel. Bitter finish with a strong alcohol burn. Glad hubby enjoyed it!! Not really for me.

750ml bottle@Hoboken#1-pours a dissipating tan head and dark brown color with red tint. Aroma is dark malt-sweet, lactose, acidic. Taste is big, alcohol, dark malt-sweet, lactose, acidic, some coffee. Not my taste.

Bottle @ ORL throwdown, courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Pours dark brown to black with a tan head some nice lacing. On the nose I’m picking up some smoke, chocolate, roast, sweet caramel malts, and nuts. Flavor is much the same, with a nice bitter hop finish. Very smooth, with well-balanced carbonation.

#300. Bottle courtesy of cbkschubert. Pours a clear deep black with one finger tan head and nice lacing. Nose is roasted nuts, dark fruits and chocolate. Palate is chocolate, roasted coffee beans, raisins and salty nuts. Finish is bitter hops with a slight alcohol burn, though neither linger very long. Creamy mouth feel. Excellent brew – thanks for the hook-up Craig!

Grain flavor and aroma. Malt in the flavor and aroma, a little chocolate, raisins and alcohol. The grain and bitter hops make this bitter overall. A well made beer but I’m not really into the flavor.

750ml bottle from xmarcnolanx....pours a relatively dark cola brown with reddish hues at its edges. a thin and fastly dissipating light brown head topped it off....nose had a chocolate, mild fruit, and a boozy component to it..... roasted malt, chocolate, and booze made up the flavors with a hot, bitter finish. mouthfeel and carbonation levels were for the most part average.

Black pour with a moderate sized tan head, good lacing and retention. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, lightly roasted, lightly fruity. Medium to full bodied, fairly sweet. Not bad, but it has a heaviness (alcohol) similar to Speedway that I don’t’ like.

This is really nice stuff, but I don’t think this will cellar as well as the other two versions, I could be wrong, but I would classify this one as a drink now item. The aroma is just like a boiling pot of chocolate fondue, with all sorts of items to dip int it, other types of chocolate, nuts, raisins and other assorted dark fruits. Deep roasted maltiness, with some hint of coffee and caramel. Again the alcohol is well integrated and hardly noticeable. Another well made effort from Alesmith!
