Regardless, it is a great beer. Very alesmith for a porter. Definitely on the stouty side, but without the extreme bitterness. I am glad I have one to age. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2008 I picked up six bottles of this at the barell aged release, hoping it would be as good as the last Decadence, and i wasn’t disappointed. pours a solid dark brown with a nice creamy head. Bitter cholate arom with a hint of carmel sweetness. Flavor full of bitter roast chocolate. some salty herbal notes add to the complexity. I pick up a little dark fruit and some vanilla as well. There is a little bit of alcohol present, but not to overwhelming. I think is six months this beer may be a 4.5 kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2008 750 ml bottle from BevMo LaJolla. Pours thick brown, opaque with slight hints of ruby when held to light and a foamy tan head. Rich aroma of roasty malts, molasses, bakers chocolate, alcohol, hints of soy sauce, along with floral and herbal notes. Flavor is also rich and roasty, more of the dark, bitter chocolate and molasses, warming alcohol, fudge sauce and a little astringent herbiness in the finish. Full body, smooth on the tongue with mild carbonation. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 8, 2008 Smooth texture from start to finish. Roasty chocolate flavors, soft burnt character, Some raisin in the nose, licorice. Subtle vanilla in the finish and a bit toasty. The alochol is still a bit strong, but this just hit the shelves here, so it will probably settle. Pours ebony with a smooth khaki head. Very smooth and well built beer. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2008 Pours a deep woody brown with lots of floaties. It’s sweet, syrupy and alcoholic, with not much in the way of hops. Finishes sticky sweet. Good but a bit one-dimensional. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA

Thin mouthfeel that is mildly grain astringent upfront with a distinct tobacco note and mild hop bitterness. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
