The third offering in our series of Decadence Anniversary Ales, is a big, rich Imperial Porter. Brewed to the parameters of a classic Porter, Decadence 2007 has the intense aromas of dark malt and chocolate complimented by a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is rich and malty, and balanced with just the right amount of English East Kent Goldings hops. Tasting at Papsoe
Black color. Very solid brew, strong body, good chocolate flavor (the aroma is simpler), sweet enough, touch of roasted malt, good hopping, strong bitterness and pleasant warming alcohol; powerful. The final has also some roasted nuts Very good.

Once again, AleSmith produced some very solid stuff. I am not a huge fan of Porter beers, but this was very good. Nice aroma and flavor of coffee, chocolate, and some dark malt. Just a little bit of bitterness at the end. 10% hidden very well. Good stuff.

75 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Pours pitch black with a fully diminished off-white head. Mild spiced and roasted malty aroma. Chocolate and hardroasted malty flavoured with a distinct acidic note showing through. Smooth and roasted malty flavoured into the finish with a mild vanilla note into a dry finish.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and fruit. The flavor is sweet with note of malt and fruit, leading to a dry woody finish where also a light note of roasted malt mingles in. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

750ml bottle. Black pour with ruby notes. Medium head. Roasty aroma with milk chocolate, a light sweetness, and hint of metallic. Lots of roasted and burnt malts in the flavor combined with milk chocolate and coffee. Flavorful but not overpowering. Full round mouth feel. A solid and enjoyable sipper.

Bottle. [Tasting session @ Papsoe, 31-10-2008] large lovely looking foamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Dark mahogany color. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, nuts, dried fruit. Over the palate came heavy roasted malt, sweet chocolate and coffee. Quite smooth even do it was complex and strong over the palate. Full bodied with an average carbonation, thick mild alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness. Strong sweet chocolate and roasted malty finish with an everlasting duration.

Poured with ha beautiful gray head. Smelled like cocoa and coffee. Tasted like dark chocolate cake and hints of dark fruit. Silky smooth for the mouthfeel. Perfect price at $10.99 a bottle, and should age quite nicely.
