Bottle from PNW. Thick dark ale with a light but lasting brown creamy head. Strong dark malty aroma; thick like a woolen coat. Chocolate with hints of molasses. Starts out like chocolate syrup, thins out as alcohol kicks in. Smooth chocolate liqueur beer. Bitter chocolate, tasty, alcohol settles down after that first sip.

2008-07-11. No notes, just generally really good and left a better overall impression. +2.

2008-05-17. Black body with a modest foamy tan head. Interesting aroma, mild roast hints at mocha. (7+) Similar flavour, good amount of hoppy bitterness, light roast malt, hints of mocha (7+). Smooth medium palate. Rather nice. 7+/4/8/3/16 - 3.8 At Rudolf’s, shared by Rudolf

Bottle. Pours deep brown, capped with a huge brown head. Aroma of tootsie rolls, vanilla, chocolate, and brown sugar. Bittersweet chocolate hits the palate first, which is soon joined by vanilla, coffee, and roasted malt. Some warming alcohol joins roasted chocolate malt for a long finish. Silky smooth and very drinkable. Nice.

A wonderful imperial porter, almost completely finished. When I revived hours later, I had good memories of the opaque black body, the coffee aroma, the full mouthfeel. Taste has coffee, not too much fortunate enough, chocolate malt, seemless complex. Dangerously drinkable. FOund at Grapes of Myrth in August 2008.

Bottle from Zinister, sampled at his tasting. Thanks!
Pours a deep black with brown highlights. Nose is rasin chocolate; flavor is close, but substitutes peaches for raisins. Full mouthfeel. Nice and sweet. Would make a great ice cream topping.

Sample at J Gumbos Aug 2008 Indy tasting - Aroma is roasty dark malts, vanilla, coffee and brown sugar. Flavor matches aroma with some caramel and alcohol showing up. Palate is smooth for 10%. A tasty brew.
