Rciesla (670), Brick City, New Jersey, USA May 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is malt, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor is just that but with a burnt rostiness that i’m not crazy about. However the beer still has a nice creamy mouth feel.
nightrider (219), encinitas, California, USA Jul 1, 2008 Pitch black pour with a good tan mocha head. Aroma is luscious with a myriad of smells of cocoa, alcohol, and malt. Of course a velvet perfect rich mouthfeel. Flavors of molasses, chocolate, malt, and perfect bitter hops on the back end. a bit dry on the finish. Fantastic brew! BMan1113VR (582), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Jul 1, 2008 Pours with a large, foamy, light brown head, very dark brown body. Aroma of plums, rum soaked raisins, chocolate, and cocoa powder. Extremely mouth coating feeling...very, very syrupy. Very sweet and chocolatey up front with some sticky toffee too. A bit of bitter coffee rounds out the finish. Amazingly good desert drink (goes well with vanilla ice cream, and tastes amazing as a float). As a side note, I am going to go buy a bottle tomorrow and age it for about 4.5 years, to make a killer winter desert treat. goldtwins (3658), Nesconset, New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 Poured brown with a tan head. The flavor was fairly roasty with nice chocolate notes. The flavor was smooth with the alcohol mostly hidden other than the warmth. Nice roasted aroma. Medium body. StoutCat (59), Rockville, Vermont, USA Jun 28, 2008 Sweet, thick beer, with chocolate-malt flavor. Aroma is also of chocolate and lightly of coffee. very tasty. CaptainCougar (4596), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 28, 2008 Pours a nearly opaque black with a stringy-lacing tan head. Aroma of sweet sugary dark caramel and chocolate with some plum character. Body starts with good thickness and sweet sticky dark malts with plenty of dark chocolatey notes. Finishes silky smooth with some warmth and lingering dark chocolate character. A pretty good imperial porter that should age well.
