Commercial Description:
The third offering in our series of Decadence Anniversary Ales, is a big, rich Imperial Porter. Brewed to the parameters of a classic Porter, Decadence 2007 has the intense aromas of dark malt and chocolate complimented by a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is rich and malty, and balanced with just the right amount of English East Kent Goldings hops. The aftertaste will leave you pining for more, so don't miss out on this release of Decadence 2007. Once it's gone, it's gone!

Bottle pours black with a dark tan head. Has a nice aroma of dark malts and some chocolate. I can see light pass through a little when I hold it up to the light. Has a medium mouthfeel. Its lighter than I expected for an imperial. Has a sweet malt flavor, caramel, chocolate, and finishes with a smooth coffee like flavor. Overall this is a very good brew. The flavors come together well, but is still somewhat hot. A year or two perhaps and the flavors might meld even better.

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, mabel & tupalev - courtesy of blankboy. Deep brown-black with ruby hints and a small tan head. Awesome sweet & malty aroma - caramel, cocoa, slightly burnt malt. Big mouthfeel. Flavour starts sweet with some dark chocolate and caramel, moving into a long, roasty and well hopped finish. Lovely!

Bottle, at cgarvieuk’s, with Stella, the kids, and Traci. Really great tasting Craig—thanks! Black with brown highlights, sticky tan fine head. Bright high-frequency sort of nose. Fresh cut hay, smoke, vanilla, raw wheat. Some kind of fresh sawn wood...doesn’t smell quite like oak to me (though it well could be), maybe birch. Silky, raisin sweetness, a winey dark chocolate quality to the finish. Fairly light body for the abv, but full of flavor and not hot. As nice as this was, I think this would have the potential to get more integrated with a few years of aging.

750 ml bottle from the brewery - Pours a brown color with a one finger thick tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted and caramel malt, light spice, and faint chocolate. Flavor is lightly roasted malt and light chocolate. Full bodied. Alcohol is noticeable in the finish. The beer comes around nicely as it warms a bit. A very nice beer.
