750 ml bottle a gift from footbalm! Thanks Eric! My rating #3000! Nose of rich ripe bananas, clovey, cinnamon wheat bread, vanilla hints, and yeasty goodness. Really rich and fruity. Hazy brown with a medium, glassing, beige head. Flavor is light banana cake, hints of toffee, and hazelnuts, and lots of caramel. Excellent (see scores) Wish I had gone down and gotten a case of bottles!

Sampled on 1/29/2010. This weisenbock pours a deep ruby drown color form a 750ml bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head with nice retention. The aroma is sweet, malty, brown sugar abd molasses. A medium bodied dunkel. The malts are dark fruit and sweet, brown sugar and molasses. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Sweet, malty and hoppy. Very smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Boutip (3451) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 12, 2010
Bottle: Poured a clear dark burgundy color bock with a super large light brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of banana bread with caramelized brown sugar notes is simply spectacular. Taste is a perfect mix between some freshly baked banana bread with great note of caramelized sugar and subtle dry fruits. Body is full but has a nice creamy texture which really fits for the style with great carbonation and alcohol is really not apparent. One of the best weizen bock I have tasted and truly a great surprise from a great brewer.

on tap at toronado on 12/15 for the SD release! how lucky was i, an east coaster, to be there for this one?! pours a dark brown with hints of copper and a thin, light tan head leaving a ring of lace. the next quote is from my notes:
"spicy, banana bread, herbs, ginger, fruit cake, nutty malts, prickly carbonation...fucking great! like schneider on roids!"
i think that pretty much sums it up. hope the bottles, if i can get one, taste as good as the draft version. alesmith amazes me again.

1st rating, tap @ Toronado tonight, during Alesmith yulesmith night. It was really nice to get a chance to try this with the brewers at my side, before the bottle release. Pours a nice rich, brownish color with a tan ring. Nose is sweet, and rich, with slight spice. Taste is sweet, rich, with deep malts, with lots of nice lingering flavor in the mouth. Touches of banana and spice, but overall a wonderful example of the style, yum, looking forward to those bottles.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Guerde (991) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - JUN 13, 2010
(bottle from bhensonb, thanks!) Pours a dark brown with a light tan head that eventually dissipates to nothing. Aroma is strong of caramel, bananas, clove, and bubblegum. As the beer warms, the banana begins to really assert itself and it changes more towards an overly ripe and estery banana aroma that is really pleasant. Taste is strong with banana and chocolate, and it almost resembles a chocolate-covered banana with some caramel as well. The finish ends very crisply with some wheat tartness and clove spice, and the mouthfeel is somewhat chalky and medium bodied with high carbonation. Having had this twice now, I can say that this beer possesses everything I’d look for in a weizenbock, and I wish this wasn’t only a one-off release since I would seek it out regularly.
