COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 2010 and 2005 versions have the same recipe.

In 2010 we return to the style that was chosen for the very first AleSmith Decadence®, an English-style Old Ale. Abundant malty flavors and the perfect balance of English hops define this classic style. Four specialty yeast strains and the use of tradition brewing sugars create a rich and tasty flavor profile. AleSmith Decadence® pleases and tantalizes the palate in a way that has become the hallmark of AleSmith’s premium ales.

English Style Old Ale

In 1995, a momentous happening occurred in San Diego:AleSmith was forged. In the ten years since then, we have had the pleasure of enjoying the fruits of our labor and we have been fortunate to develop a faithful following of friends. We are commemorating this decade with a very special brew: Decadence Anniversary Ale. We deeply appreciate your support and we hope you join us in our "Decadent" decennial celebration.

Mahogany/brown with a one-finger tan head and very nice lace. Aromas of caramel malt, brown sugar, fig, grapefruit and alcohol. Sweetness from brown sugar and caramel up front, followed quickly with a grapefruit bite with toffee, port, and hints of alcohol. Medium body, minimal carbonation, sticky mouthfeel and a lingering sweetness.

Cask at The Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a very dark ruby with a dense, creamy tan head. Strong aroma of prunes, burnt sugar and some vanilla essence. Sweet toffee, dark malts and alcohol soaked dried fruit flavours. Thick, velvety mouth feel. Palate of a little coffee, maple syrup and dark rum. Damn good.

Thanks for the share OmegaX. This brew was full of toffee-malt goodness. As it warmed up it got bitter-sweet with a delectable finish of caramel and dank hops. Seriously good stuff here.

2013-09-01. Dark brown body with a nice foamy head. 4+ Aroma of sugary malt, interesting malt accents and undertones, tiny hints Of herbal licorice character. Flavour is sweet, sugary malt character, interesting malty accents. Modest alcohol throughout. 7+ Very smooth medium bodied palate, soft carbonation. Nice, I want to love it but there is something about the overall impression that I don’t care for. Bottle labelled as Alesmith Old Ale from San Diego shared by a friend.
