Really an incredibly well balanced barleywine, begins with a really nice malt backbone with a solid woody note and a sweetness which sneaks in through the finish and lingers beautifully on the palate afterwards as it becomes deeper. This was a really incredible barleywine, really phenomenally well balanced and delicious, really wish i had some more to tuck away although it is pretty much perfect now

Pours a rich copper amber with a little bit of haze in it. One finger of creamy sandstone yellow head. Nose is very nice, soft and smooth smoky notes. Some old hay and notes of caramel and toasted grain with a touch of raisin and alcohol. Rich flavor, very well blended/balanced smoke character with just a touch of sweetness. Full bodied with a soft carbonation. Herbal/crisp hop character on the finish. Some treacle and raisin comes through.

Bottle from Casa De Oro. Hazy fig looking color. Nose is rich dark fruits and a good deal of smoke. Some alcohol as well. Rich malt and dark fruit up front with a smokey sort of thing going on. Rich and flavorful with a good balance of flavors. Tastes kind of like a smoked Belgian. Alcohol is well hidden.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours murky brown with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. Good retention. The bouquet is very reminiscent of smoked maple bacon. Who doesn’t love that? Medium-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is a lavish mélange of maple smoke, brown sugar and sweet caramel. Finishes malty and faintly acidic. Huge props to newcigarz for sharing this fantastic treat!

From bottle. Pours a light brown with thick white head. Smells of smoke and maple. Tastes of caramel, maple, and smoke aftertaste. Pretty good release. Will let my other bottle age longer.

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a dense tea colored brown that was nearly opaque except for the parts of transparency on the outskirts of snifter glass cup. Nose is mild with an obvious smell of maple syrup with a smoky background of burnt wood logs and the faintest whiff of alcohol. Aroma sort of reminded me raw/uncooked applewood smoked bacon. The drink also brings out that smoky flavor of eating pancakes with maple syrup except there is also a lingering taste of Hennessey cognac and a warm alcohol burn similar to other hard liquor such as vodka. Definitely a barleywine that holds its weight with unique and different flavors that stand out compared to the rest.
