COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Now, seventeen years after we started, weíre proud to present another great addition in this ongoing series. AleSmith Decadenceģ 2012 is a big Belgian-style quadruple ale. A variety of Belgian malts impart notes of bread and ripe fruit with subtle hints of cloves and molasses. Its creamy mouthfeel is balanced by a rich, full-bodied finish. This rare offering is meant to be savored and will age nicely.

750 ml bottle. Pours a clear deep reddish brown with a moderate fairly dense tan head. Very pleasant aroma of malt with some caramel sweetness, prunes, and raisins. The flavor is excellent with ample chewy sweet malt, prunes, dates, and raisins. Rich and full bodied. Luxurious on the palate. Excellent!

750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled in late 2012. Pours lightly cloudy dark ruby red color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, fig, pear, apple, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, brown bread, clove, pepper, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge caramel, molasses, raisin, prune, fig, toast, toffee, biscuit, pear, apple, dark bread, light chocolate, clove, pepper, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, dark bread, light chocolate, biscuit, candi sugar, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Absolutely incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark malt and fruit/spicy yeast ester flavors; with an amazing malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible Quadrupel style! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Man these guys know how to make great beer. Pours a deep chestnut brown. Aromas are strong raisins and prunes. Flavors are sweet dark fruits, some apple, and strong slightly toasted malts at the end. Fantastic.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber, with a rocky off-white head. Dark dried fruits (raisin, date, prune), candy sugar, belgian yeast, spice, roasted nuts, aged sherry, toffee, and with a long, dry finish. Abv is hidden, just a pleasant warmth. Very good quad, I will definitely buy more of this.

Draft at Alesmith tasting room. Wood brown in color with a small head. Smells really good. Oaky, malty, vanilla notes. Taste is super smooth... creamy low carbonation level but not flat... the taste really sticks to your taste buds. I love that about alesmith beers... Anyway. Taste is great as well. Rich maltiness, balanced by a nice hoppiness, really oakey, peat, moss and light vanilla. The high alcohol content is hidden well. Overall very enjoyable... Maybe someone will send me a bottle

Big thanks to Sparky for sharing this. The 750mL bottle pours a nice clear mahogany with a thin tan head of foam. The aroma is inviting with some thick malts, prunes and dates as well as a bit of raisin like dark fruity esters. The taste begins with a nearly creamy mouth feel offering up smooth sweet prunes and brown sugar covered dates and raisins. This is a smooth yummy and rich brew with only the slightest rough around the edges sensation which tells me the room for improvement with age is kind of small. Donít get me wrong, Iím going to age a few. Lovely Quad.

Capped 750 from Nugget Market in Davis, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper with a 3 finger creamy dark beige head. Aromas of treacle, dark fruit and maybe hop. Or not. Arguably full bodied. Flavor is very dark, enhanced by the ABV, and is imaginable as super dark fruit cake. Thereís a light heat/spice combo burn. Every quaff is an interesting cycle of flavors and mouthfeel. I think I even get chocolate occasionally. Truly fantastic ale.The finish is not dry, but that would be wrong. Itís not overly sweet either. Seems just right.

Plum-skin pour with hints of scarlet, crimson, and garnet at its edges. The nice fluffy eggshell head diminished to a wisp and ring relatively quickly. Chocolate covered raisins, Belgian yeast, candied dates, fig, brown sugar, molasses, and a touch of vanilla. Nose is sweet and shows tons of dark fruit accompanied by alcohol. Flavor is quite complex, despite its age. Warming. Canít wait for this after AleSmithís barrel treatments! These guys simply donít miss! They, once again, demonstrated why they are my favorite brewery!

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep and dark ruby red amber with a medium sized beige/light brown head. Aroma of candied malts, cloves, dark fruit, molasses and Belgian yeast. Taste is much the same as the aroma.

Pours a blushing port-wine red, with a few fingers of pale, corn- yellow head. Lacing is thick with a sheet of fine bubbles. Nose is of over-ripe banana, with very mild notes of spice. Taste starts with lightly ripened banana and light molasses, with highlights of caramel and even some faint shiraz dryness on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium to full, with a little bit of carbonation.
