COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Now, seventeen years after we started, we’re proud to present another great addition in this ongoing series. AleSmith Decadence® 2012 is a big Belgian-style quadruple ale. A variety of Belgian malts impart notes of bread and ripe fruit with subtle hints of cloves and molasses. Its creamy mouthfeel is balanced by a rich, full-bodied finish. This rare offering is meant to be savored and will age nicely.

bottle shared by mathieuc, thanks bro. pours clear ruby-copper with a frothy light beige-reddish head, good retention and lacing. raisins-plenty, other dried dark red fruits; doughy, nutty, fruity and chewy caramel, belgian yeast, few bananas/bubblegum, dark candi, pepper, other spices - cardamom. moderate carbonation, light to medium body - lean for its abv, bittering grassy-spicy finish. very good!

Pours deep mahogany into a Trappist glass. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Molasses, brown bread and dark alcohol-soaked pit fruit aromas. Sweet caramel and clove upfront turning hot raisin brown bread and chocolate in the lasting finish.

This one poured a semi murky dark red to brown color with a small beige head. Aroma was dark fruits, lightly burnt sugar, dark candy sugar, chocolate, yeast and mild spice. Flavor started with a plummy yeasty grapey taste, followed by belgianesque spicey middle, and finished with a nice chocolately and roasty conclusion. An excellent American version of the style.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber, with a rocky off-white head. Dark dried fruits (raisin, date, prune), candy sugar, belgian yeast, spice, roasted nuts, aged sherry, toffee, and with a long, dry finish. Abv is hidden, just a pleasant warmth. Very good quad, I will definitely buy more of this.

Bottle... Poured dark brown with a khaki head. At first a little metallic and blood-like. As it warm dark sugars and plum notes came through. Mild bitterness and alcohol but fruity and sweet with some dryness towards the finish. Hit the spot for the style.

Bottle sample @ RBNG-14. Deep ruby-hued brown body, medium creamy off-white head. Nose is caramel, Norwegian brown cheese, deep malts, cream, chocolate and hints of raisins, plums and prunes. Taste is deep malts, raisins, caramel, red fruits and hints of plums and burnt sugar. Full body, medium carbonation. Very smooth and nice, as mostly from AleSmith. Probably the best beer from the Grand Tasting session at Ratebeer Norway Gathering 2014 IMO.

750ml bottle in a wine glass. Pours deep brown/ruby with a beige head. Aroma of rich caramel and toffee and lightly nutty malts, some spicy yeast, light notes of dark fruits, hints of bitterness. Flavor the same with a great blend of everything. Smoother texture. A solid quad.

Weak fig nose, mild clove. Clear rust, medium tan head with little retention. Sweet plum and fig with blackberry and clove overtones. A bit like cough syrup though. Fig is significantly more dominant on the back of the palate. Rather vinous at times

Growler from the brewery so I could really slowly savor and enjoy this. Clear cherry brown with a big, very heavy lacing, long lasting beige head. Nose is sweet black raisins, cloves, tons of sweet peanut brittle (minus the peanuts), hints of bubblegum and bready yeast. Flavor is sweet lightly caramelized sweetness, dark fruits, spiciness, and a tiny background of alcohol warmth. Wish I had a bunch of the bottles to age!
