Now, seventeen years after we started, we’re proud to present another great addition in this ongoing series. AleSmith Decadence® 2012 is a big Belgian-style quadruple ale. A variety of Belgian malts impart notes of bread and ripe fruit with subtle hints of cloves and molasses. Its creamy mouthfeel is balanced by a rich, full-bodied finish. This rare offering is meant to be savored and will age nicely.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle. Dark red with a white head. This is one incredibly complex beer. For the aroma I get some cherries, grapes and toffee. The flavor is even more complex. I get some cherries, grapes and dark fruits notes, as well as some toffee and brown sugar. There is also quite a bit of alcohol, as well as a bit of yeast. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Awesome.

Bottled @ Camping Ratebeers 2014, small sample. Dark copper color, short head. Aroma of caramel malt, raisin, slight spicy, bit of bread and ripe fruit. Medium sweet in taste, slight bitter, touch of alcohol. Quite full bodied, probably not as much sugar used as the belgian counterparts. Nice belgian-styled stuff again from Alesmith.

(750ml bottle) clear medium brown, tan soapy bubbles. Nose of raisin, caramel, dates, sweet, alcohol. Taste of alchohol, raisin, lightly toasty caramel, quite sweet, chewy body. Too sweet to rate higher. Good though.

Dark fruit, brown sugar, some spicy yeast, alcohol and nine volt battery on the nose. Pours copper brown with a tannish head. Flavors of strong brown sugar, some dark fruit, a little spicy yeast, strong alcohol, and a good dose of nine volt battery. Lingering alcohol and battery on the palate. Big carbonation. Strong as fuck. More or less unpleasant.

Bottle. Dark brown with a creamy off white head. Sweet caramel, vanilla, raisin, date, citrus and a hint of chocolate to the aroma and taste with a silky slightly bright full bodied palate.

This one poured a semi murky dark red to brown color with a small beige head. Aroma was dark fruits, lightly burnt sugar, dark candy sugar, chocolate, yeast and mild spice. Flavor started with a plummy yeasty grapey taste, followed by belgianesque spicey middle, and finished with a nice chocolately and roasty conclusion. An excellent American version of the style.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dry fruits and caramelized sugar with light fruity ester is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by caramelized sugar with dry raisins note, light fruity ester and well balanced residual sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and surprisingly no apparent alcohol. Well balanced and very enjoyable for the style. Brewer should think about brewing again and maybe giving it a barrel treatment.
