Commercial Description:
Appearance: Vivid mahogany color, good head formation and retention. Flavor: Rich, chewy, toasty, malty flavors perfectly balanced by a moderate hoppy bitterness. Aroma: The aroma starts with a citrusy, piney hop aroma followed by a nice malty sweetness. Well-rounded and well-balanced. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Lush and rich on the palate with a dry finish.

Hazed bloody crimson red, creamy tan head. Nose was an interesting mix of toasted dark sweet malt, hints of roasted chocolate, touches of cherry and grapefruit, with just a slight note of cooked veggies. Toasty malt flavors throughout that balance with earth and citirc hop tones. More malt here for sure with slight chocolate and mild coffeeish notes from start to finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, soft bittersweet finish. An Alesmith session brew without a doubt. Good stuff...

Tap at Brewery. Dark red/brown with a 1 finger off white head. Smell is sweet candy sugar, medium piney hops and a slight subdued caramel. Taste starts with a sweet caramel note then the hops jump out. Nice mellow pine hops that really stand out. Would love to know what hop this is. Mouthfeel is creamy with a dry finish at the end.

Growler from the brewery. Deep red-brown color, with a good-sized light head. Complex flavors of hops, malt, and citrus. Taste fades away smoothly, changing into a bit of a sharp bite at the end. Very nice ale.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Very red dark amber color. 1 finger creamy head. Well balanced sweetness and hops. Nice hop flavor with low hop bitterness. Decent session ale.

No Killian’s, for sure! My simple mind classifies this as somewhat sweeter than the AleSmith IPA, with a little added dry coffee finish. An absolute joy on tap.
