Each Halloween we release this special concoction to celebrate one of our favorite holidays. Deep blood-red in color, an intense aroma of pine and citrus from an abundance of American hops balances the sweetness and rich, bready flavors of this beer’s caramel malts. The result is a fiendishly smooth brew that will make your taste buds scream with delight.

nearly clear copper pour with a 1 finger, oily yellow cake head. Aroma is loaded with caramel and toffee, with some nice, pine, citrus and spicy hops and a little toast and biscuit. Flavor is again full of caramel and toffee, some nice toasty notes, light roast nuts, lots of sweet pine, some grapefruit and spicy hops coming in toward the finish along with some interesting berry- like fruity esters and a nice, lingering earthy, toasty grain note that really sells it as a proper autumn seasonal beer. Medium body, slightly syrupy entry, off dry finish, lingering dryness, medium, sharp and lively carbonation. Really pretty fantastic stuff very well put together, but maybe a bit too boozy and astringent.

Bottle split at CBC Clerko, 15/04/15, thanks to Bropey. Reddish amber topped with a decent beige covering. Nose is candied fruit peel, earthy notes, bitter orange, caramel malt, light smoke waftings. Taste comprises caramel, bubblegum, brown sugar, candied orange peel, light vanilla, orange blossom, trace of spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with an earthy hop rinse. Decent hoppy amber but no game changer for the style.

Craft Clerkenwell. Bruce’s UK Swan Song. Clear deep red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and a little soft, mild fine carbonation. Light cream in the malt, trace of caramel. Nice smooth hop skunk followed by mild pine and marmalade. A whisper of hop spice. Airy semi dry finish. Nicely joined up and drinkable but the world’s best Amber?
