COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the AleSmith incarnation of a Belgian Strong Ale. Horny Devil is an authentic Belgian Style ale, from the Belgian candi sugar right down to the yeast, a Belgian strain from a Trappist monastery in Belgium. In addition to the malts, candi sugar and fresh hops, there is also a little added twist from coriander seeds, which impart a refreshing citrus flavor to an outstanding ale. Belgian ale lovers around the world have raved about Horny Devil, and you will too.

Pours copper-brown color with a medium sized head. Aroma of ripe fruits, yeast, some spice notes, caramel malts and toffee. Flavor of toffee, caramel malts and ripe fruits. A bit of a let-down.

Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours a cloudy golden color. Aroma is slightly spicy, with the coriander having a fairly strong presence. Body is warm and yeasty, with a surprisingly sweet finish. Fair amount of warming knocks this down a peg or two but still a really delicious beer.

Pale peach-gold pour with a 2 finger, creamy, bright white head that has good retention. Lots of pilsner malt cereal and toast in the aroma, tree fruit, doughy yeast, spicy and light floral hops and mineral notes, not the most complex nose for a big belgian, but inviting. The flavor brings more cereal and toast, light tree fruit, floral, spicy and hints of pine hops, oily grain, bready yeast and dried tree and tropical fruit. Medium body, with a creamy to off dry feel leading to a slightly chalky finish. Good stuff, reminds me of a boozier, less hoppy Duvel.

Bottle, thanks Chris. Pours a nice golden-amber with no head. Aroma has lots of biscuit and caramel, some fruity alcohol and low levels of yeast esters, sloghtly citrus, I really like the aroma. Taste is quite full on Belgian yeast party, estery, spicy, caramel and quite fruity. Well balanced palate with a clean finish. I like the smell but not really my bag.

UPDATED: APR 22, 2013 Tripel esque yeasty brew with a refreshing citrus and lemony mouthfeel very similar to delirium tremens alcohol is well hidden a delightful beer.

Bottle via Beer World Catskill. A new addition to the beer world inventory. A big west coast body supports and surrounds the Belgian ale doing a decent job of escaping from it all. Candi sugar, check. Coriander, check. Hops are muted but discernible. Citric finish, check. Muted pale yellow in the large glass. thinner head. Thin yet fluffy quaff lines are left behind. A pleasant consummation of ingredients helps disguise the 11% fairly well, but not completely. Great with dinner.

Hops, honey on nose. Pours between pale and golden, medium white top, small lacing. Taste - malty, sweetish, very honey one, no hops. Aftertaste - semisweet, a bit sour with astringent tone. Overall I’m disappointed cause of too much dominance of honey in flavor. It could be good spice/herb style beer.

Bottle. Golden brown color. Tiny to none head. Lemonade, juicy, perfume, fruity, yeast in aroma. Smell invites to drink. Sadly here fun stops. Absolutely packed with different kind of chemicals, vitamins, off gone old soviet time perfumes. Alcohol is very detectable in every sip. This beer doesn’t make me horny. Quite opposite :(

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2013 Hazy pale golden with medium off white head. Aroma.. intense hoppy, floral honey, quite malty, caramel, yeasty, some spices, fruits, alcohol. Quite sweet with medium bitter dry finish. Bit too thin Thou decent beer.
