COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the AleSmith incarnation of a Belgian Strong Ale. Horny Devil is an authentic Belgian Style ale, from the Belgian candi sugar right down to the yeast, a Belgian strain from a Trappist monastery in Belgium. In addition to the malts, candi sugar and fresh hops, there is also a little added twist from coriander seeds, which impart a refreshing citrus flavor to an outstanding ale. Belgian ale lovers around the world have raved about Horny Devil, and you will too.

Cloudy yellowish orange appearance. Aroma is bread and citrus. Flavor was slightly sour with some apricot and lemons. Not bad at all.

Pours a golden cloudy golden color, with lots of haziness in the appearance, and a very nice fizzy head. The aroma is spicy and astringent. Lots of corriander, ginger, clove and banana goodness.

Strong overripe fruit, bitter chocolate, orange and hop aroma. Thick, sweet initial taste, like port wine. This one was a little overwhelming for me, but I plan on aging a bottle to mellow it out.

Pours a light orange, minimal white head, although there was very fine lacing on the glass. Sweet and spicy nose, slight whiff of alcohol. Pretty sweet taste as well, the finish lingers and is a bit bitter. Big ABV is hidden fairly well.

Light orange colour with white head. Spicy/fruity aroma, with a flavour to match. Medium palate, moderate carbonation, well proportioned, a bit sweet. This is a very nice interpretation of a Belgian.

This bottled brew brought to the Three Floyds Birthday Gathering 12/27/2003 by the BigBadBear63 poured a medium sized head of fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that left behind a light brown colored uncarbonated body. The aroma was mildly malted and slightly hopped vinuous with coriander and sweet dough aromas. It had an initially tingly vinuous flavor folloed by a tingly malty fruit hoppy finish.

Hazy yellow hue with white creamy ring and some lace. The aroma is spicy (coriander, clove and allspice), citric (orange, grapefruit and lemon), apple, honey, roasted malts, aromatic hops, and earthy and leathery yeast esters. The taste is sweet and spicy, much like a triple but even bigger, minor burn during consumption. Nice yeasty undertones with a grapefruit zing towards the finish. The mouthfeel is smooth yet you still notice an ever presence of the alcohol. The brew had some nice complexity and is bolder than most in the genre, will try some more.
