COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the AleSmith incarnation of a Belgian Strong Ale. Horny Devil is an authentic Belgian Style ale, from the Belgian candi sugar right down to the yeast, a Belgian strain from a Trappist monastery in Belgium. In addition to the malts, candi sugar and fresh hops, there is also a little added twist from coriander seeds, which impart a refreshing citrus flavor to an outstanding ale. Belgian ale lovers around the world have raved about Horny Devil, and you will too.

Bottle purchased at Consumers BeverGes Niagara Falls New York. Pours a cloudy golden colour, no real head, yeast marks. Smells sweet, yeasty and typically Belgian. Tastes sweet, a little bitter bite. Almost an element of saltiness too. Really nice and drinkable.

Bottled. Hazy golden beer with frothy and lacy, slightly diminishing head. Orangey and coriandery nose, some pear notes and slightly peppery yeast. Starts slightly sweet with loads of fruit nectars. Nice yeast character, light sourness combined with peppery notes. Dryish finish has light bitteness. Hides alcohol perfectly. Medium body, smooth, slightly yeasty texture. Well balanced beer. Maybe a bit too sweet.

Crisp golden clear liquid, with a white medium head. Almost looks like a pilsner. Aroma is sweet and funky. I’m getting caramel, bread, citrus, herbs, banana, coriander, and some funky brettanomycesaromas. Medium body and lively carbonation. Taste is a bit of everything, balances indeed. Some sweetness, some bitterness and some sourness. All in all a great one.

From a 750ml bottle, pours a light golden brown with a foamy head. Sweet malty aroma with a touch of lemon and coriander , finish is very nicely balanced and crisp. A bit of alcohol warmth, but this is really smooth for 11%. As usual Alesmith provide a very classy drink, this interpretation of a Belgian classic really nails it.

Barely hazy pale golden/ straw color with a medium white head that dissipates to a rim. Huge coriander nose, herbal and fresh. Taste is cordiander, herbal and floral, some light honey sweetness and orange. Medium palate, flavorful and strong with just a little wamrth, finishes with just the right amount of dryness, tasty.

Bottle from Binny’s in Bloomington. Pours a lightly hazed deep gold with a white head. Nose is peppery and lightly sweet. Honey and citrus, coriander is noted. Nice character, low alcohol. On tasting, moderate bitterness, candied citrus peel with a drying finish. Really nice beer here.

On tap at AleSmith brewery. Light golden pour with frothy lacing. Spicy fruit aroma with notes of caramel and malt. Sweet banana-orange up front with tangy citrus finish. I was reminded of banana liqueur! Wow.
