COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Bomber courtesy dirty_martini. Pours a hazy copper with a massive and lacy white head. Arguably an imperial or double version of the style, but a tasty beer either way. A bit of sweet malty flavor shines through a wave of citrus and pine. This is one tasty IPA. Thanks, Larry!

22, thanks to the kind hand of BitBucket. Towering moussy tan head over a hazy orange body. Gorgeous, but prepare to sit around for a while while the head settles to clingy, somewhat flotsamy foam. Big candied fruit nose--lots of sweet citrus knocking around, and some of them smell like they’ve dusted in powdered sugar for a while. There’s some caramel, maybe a hint of butterscotch in there to remind you that this beer does not consist entirely of boiled hops. Think of these malt notes as a hostage photo; they’re polaroids of the barley taken with the San Diego Union Tribune, brew day edition. ’Cause this beer’s all about the hops. Tangy citrus throughout the attack, mid-palate, and finish. Incredibly smooth and drinkable, and the 7.25% was a shocking number, at least a good point higher than I suspected. They say the local price on the bombers is reasonable. Other than the abv this beer screams sessionability in every way. Complex, satisfying, interesting, refreshing, not at all in danger of growing repetitive...and it’s not available here and it gets you too drunk. Ah, quandaries.

22 oz bottle. Pours a slight hazy amber with a huge frothy head and big lacing. Citrus with a large hop nose. Flavor is very well balanced between sweet malts and bitterness. You can taste the citrus presense with pine notes. Creamy to oily mouthfeel with a dry finish and a bitterness that lingers. Commercial description is all true. Excellent IPA!

Deep amber beer, thin off-white head. Sweet hoppy aroma, with strong citrus, grapefruit and a mango/pineapple tropical fruitiness. Very fruity flavour with the sweet malts accenting the sweet fruity hops producing a juicy tropical character. Long sweet orange, mango and grapefruit flavour on the back with just a touch of resin. Nice brew.

appearance. amber orange color, small white head. Pine, orange peel, grapefruit in the aroma. not overly bitter but with a good hop bite. Resiny pine goodness flavor. This is the kind of thing I wish was readily available. Good stuff.

Dark malt sweetness carries a significant hop load- pine, citrus, peach all mingle in this well constructed IPA. Very nice- but not the best IPA.

Now this is another nice IPA. Pours out a nice deep orange, yellow color with a nice beige head. Aroma is very hoppy with grassy, grapefruit notes throughout. Flavor is very nice, although i was hoping for a bit more hoppiness to it. Other than that, this was a great brew.

22 oz bottle thanks to Larry Pitonka, pours into a Trappist glass. Pours a golden orange color with massive sediment flakes and a slightly tanned head. Huge malty and citrus aroma with a massive hop presence. The flavor is just solid in every way. Almost seems like a IIPA flavor with the huge malt up front, moving into a very well balanced pine and citrus hop note that’s as smooth as silk gliding over the palate and down the throat. Ending on a vanillay hop note, this is one damn, DAMN good IPA. Thank Alesmith!!!!
