Commercial Description:
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Bottle... Poured a clear amberish-orange with a huge white head. Strong hoppy aroma with a nice caramel presence. I big citrus fruit punch like grapefruit right up front while the floralness of the hops then took over. The finish was nice candy-sweet malt balance.

Bottle. Simply one of the best IPA’s I’ve had. Robust hop profile with a wonderful balance of different and very complementary flavours. Malt is certainly present depsite a full on hop attack. But the taste doesn’t numb the tongue like some IPA’s, rather it massages it with a gentle but unrelenting bitterness that pleases greatly. Superb.

Bottled. Aroma has a lot of fruits (oranges, grapefruits), some caramel malts. Hazy, golden-orange coloured brew with an off-white, lasting head. The taste is bitter, slightly sweet, hoppy (loads of fruitiness there again, some pine). Slight malty touch. Wonderfull balance.

At the tasting session by Joes. A clear orange colored beer, with thick foamy white head. The aroma of a lot of hops, a little grassy and fruits like citrus. The taste of hops bitter, malts, fruits like citrus, grapes. A little alcohol. The aftertaste is bitter.

Bottled. Hazy amber color, short head. Aroma of soft fruity hops, some caramel malt only. Nice bitter taste, some grapefruit and pineapple. Perfectly balanced. Great stuff.

Bomber - big thanks to MrChopin for the bottle! Pours a bright orange, with a small-to-mid size fluffy head. Powerful citrus hops in the aroma - mandarin and grapefruit, with a touch of honey and an almost bubble-gum sweetness for the malt side of things. This is one smooth brew, given the bitterness of the flavor. Big resiny pine notes and a slightly stronger malt contingent. Full-bodied, but still very, very crisp. Dry, bitter finish. Really good stuff - but proves to me that I’ve been jaded by palate bombs - it’s just not the same as a IIPA.

Pours a yellowish golden orange with a sudsy white head which thins quickly. Aroma is grapefruit, honey, and floral hops. Flavor is honey, grapefruit, resiny hops. Nice and smooth at the finish, perfect bitterness. Similar to hopslam with a touch less sweetness. Nice IPA
