COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Pours a clear, deep copper. Very inviting. Nice hop aroma with citrus (grapefruit, orange) dominating. Sweet up front with a nice crisp, bitterness on the palate. Dry-ish (which is nice). More grapefruit and grassy hop flavors. A very, very nice, IPA!

22oz bottle, no bottle date. Copper pour with a couple fingers a head. Huge pine and citrus aromas, great finish. Fantastic IPA

Poured from a bomber into a snifter. Appearance is a orange to copper with a dense head of white foam that persists to the end of the beer and leaving nice rings of lacing down the glass. Aroma is floral, citrus, and piney. In the taste I get a sweet, bitter, juicy beer with a nice bready malt backbone that comes into effect at the end of the swallow. Very good IPA.

Bought a bomber at a local store. No idea how fresh it is. Slightly cloudy orange hue, good lacing. Decent hoppy citrus aroma. Taste is extremely subdued - I am seriously wondering if my palate is diminished today for some reason. Moderate IPA bitterness but few flavors otherwise. Not very impressed with this bottle.

22oz bottle, shared. Clear yellow color, really nice, thin, foamy and persisting white head. Great reaches of lace. This is one of those fantastic hoppy brews with enough strength in the dry aroma for it to wash over you upon the first sip, enveloping you and your tastebuds in a hoppy blanket. Great, light crisp carbonation, awesome fruity hop aroma. Grapefruit, pineapple, mango. Awesome bitterness that isn’t so harsh, retains some sweetness to mellow things out and keep me gulping away. Probably a bit of salt taste in this brew, to bring all of this awesomeness out, no doubt. Excellent, overall... I’m actually trying to rate this objectively from all the hype I’ve heard, I fear I might be under-rating this. This one deserves it’s accolades

Bottle: pours golden amber with a thin white head, aroma of floral hops, mildly hoppy taste with a malty finish. Good!

Huge nose on this beer which is a good thing. Great initial intake of the scents. Color is good. The taste is excellent. Enjoyable beer for sipping or for drinking casually. Goes very good with grilled burgers and hot dogs too.

Golden yellow color in the glass. Huge aroma erupt’s of pine and citrus. Taste has big hops but a crisp taste. Grapefruit and grass dominate. Smooth finish.
