It’s Pretty Awesome. A San Diego classic, AleSmith IPA showcases the versatility of American hops. Aromas of grapefruit and tangerine lead into an abundance of fresh pine and tropical fruit notes followed by a crisp, resinous bitterness. The complex hop profile is supported by a firm malt presence to create an incredibly flavorful and well-balanced IPA.

bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Clear medium orange amber color, heavy white head, broken sheets of lace. Aroma of citrus hops. Taste is semi-sweet toffee malt that grows into a medium carbonated swallow, only yielding to strong citrus hops deep in the finish. Solid, but not heavy, full-bodied, but not filling, well-balanced, and well-conceived. An exceptional IPA.

Oh this is a tasty brew from the lands of San Diego. Subtle hop aroma, medium white head with a crystal clear deep orange hue. The taste is very unique with a hop assault up front and mild bitterness as she walks out of the door.

Hazy orange beer, big off-white head. Very smooth and fruity nose, lots of tangerines and grapefruity sweetness, mild bitterness, caramel and toasty malt notes. Flavor is smooth hops, tangerines, caramel sweetness. Finishes with flowery notes, hoppy and grapefruity bitterness. Lingering mild caramel and grapefruity bitterness. Very drinkable and balanced, great stuff.

1 pint 6 fl oz bottle at home. Hazy amber appearance with an ample white head and decent lace. My bottle was not the freshest (bottled 19/3/15) but this is still an outstanding US West Coast IPA deserving of it’s iconic status. Heaps of hops on the nose (pine resin, oranges, grapefruits, limes, lychees) on top of a robust caramel malt bill. Lovely smooth mouthfeel and softish carbonation with balanced flavours and a substantial resinous dry hop bitterness. The ABV is hardly noticeable.

Bomber shared that poured a light yellow to medium orange color with off white head great lacing on the glass. The aroma is mind malt base and s nice citrus blend and some pine hops. The flavor is all that and more. More hops than malt. Enough malt to know its there but the citrus and pine hop flavors are dominant and delicious. Why I waited to try this is beyond me.
