Commercial Description:
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

bottle thanks to mashmaster. dark gold amber pour with a thick cream head. smooth citrus hop scent along with floral notes in the background. wow, not overly hoppy and not bitter at all. I heard this was a good IPA but this is freakin awesome. easy on the palate and nice on the way down.

Poured from 75cl bottle at Alesmith dinner. Phenomenal IPA plain and simple. Not overly hopped where it covers evertyhing else. Amazing balance between citrus, piney bitterness and just enough malt. Best IPA I’ve tried so far and I’m not even a huge IPA fan.

Bottle. Strong citrus hop aroma with malt. Flavor is the same...hoppy with a big malt backbone. But not overly malty like some IIPAs....just enough to balance. Citrus hops throughout. A wonderful IPA.

Aroma is hoppy with fresh pine and orange citrus. Pours amber orange with rocky off-white head. Flavor begins with nice citrus/pine and finishes with a nice dry hoppy throat. There is a nice balance between the hops and the malt (for an IPA). Nice finish of toasty and carmel malt. A very good American IPA.

On tap at the brewery for RBSG 08. Pours a clear gold with a nice, white head. Big aroma of citrus and pine hops. Crisp, clear taste with a lot of hops. Lingering hoppy bitterness. Really great IPA.

22 oz bottle. Bright quarter inch head reduces to dense impenetrable blanket. Smells hoppy/piney.Any movement stains the side of the glass with gooey foam. Sharp and bitter, then fruity and sweet, then bitter again. Way bitter afterburn. Stronger than some doubles. Nice.

Thanks to Kegbear for this brew. Pour is a very clean and clear medium golden with a fluffy off white head. Aroma is amazing with tons of fresh hops, light fruit, malt, pine, and much more. Flavors are all well blended together perfectly balanced. Flavors include mellow but dominant biterness, peach, light pine, and sweet delicious malt. Damn good brew, damn good.
