3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2016 Malt forward ipa but very citrusy with tangerine. Flavor has pine. Bitterness is high.
Just giving this one more attention because of the high acclaim... sacriledge, I know... Letís see if it pans out... Itís completely cloudy and orange in colour. The head is 1/2: of frothy foam throughout the drink. The aroma íhas notes ofí "sounds nicer" malted caramel, citrus and pine. Its just too sweet with all that caramel for my non-American palate American.taste buds. This beer is great for Americaís sweet tooth.6 on the aroma is really pushing it with all that sweetness. The forgettable palate cany be raised above 2. Tastes-wise, itís hoppy, bitter and citrusy, all the cliches of an American IPA. I wanted to be a sheep with this one. My good taste just wonít allow me to inflate it any higher than originally rated.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This will likely have to re-rated. Iíve had this before and do not recall it tasting like the following.
Bottle into a tumbler showing honey amber with a finger of clean white foam.
The nose shows orange zest with a malt undertone.
The palate shows a lot of the same with a sharp IPA bitterness on the finish. Moderately carbonated and light bodied. Nothing terribly special.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Originally rated on 10/2/08. My first Ale smith product, i had to have these shipped in by finewinehouse.com, overall i was pleased with thier service. Anyway back to the IPA, the aroma was wonderful with hints of pine, citrus, apple, malts and some floral notes being present. Apperance was a cloudy deep copper colored body, mouthfeel was thick and chewy. Flavor was similar to aroma with apple, pine and citrus sharing the stage, and the finish was malty. Overall a very good IPA, that is certainly worth your time.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
pours a light orange amber with a thick white head that has great retention. Aroma has lots of tropical fruits and toasted malts. Flavor is much the same with a nice resinous back end. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Lasting dry finish. This beer is good but IMO a little overrated.

Fine IPA with light aroma. Balanced with average hop bitterness. Absolutely no better than fresher MI IPAs!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/10/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Awesome appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, lemon/orange rind, pine, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and minimal astringent hop flavors lingering after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness, that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and fairly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an insane IPA! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A highly amazing offering.
