AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Bomber into a tall Weihenstephan glass. Pours a thin looking orange caramel, lots of clarity in the tone and color, also a nice bronzed shade omits when held to the light. Head is large, beige, and frothy leavins ample lacing on the glass. Aroma is wonderful-> hoppy, fresh orange, grapefruit amongst citrus waves, pine and more hops. Smells exactly how I would want my ipa to smell. Taste is just as perfect as the aroma. a crisp and fullfilling hop blast at front, followed by a noticeable but not too extreme malt balance. Orange, pine, tangerince, peach and some distant cedar are joyfully bouncing around. Drinkability is again, perfect. Such an easy and enjoyable drinker while holding all the distictions an ipa should have. Abv is an added bouns, being on the higer side, as it is barely noticeable. All Im thinking about while drinking this is how wonderfully this beer is balanced. This is a top notch ipa.

22 oz bomber poured into IPA glass. Pours slightly dark golden with a huge frothy dirtwhite head. Aroma is loads of grape, pine, grass and orangepeel. Taste is nicely balanced with tropical fruits, medium bitterness and breadcrumbs. Don’t know how old it was but lacked a bit of the "hoppy punch" to score it higher. Either way a solid IPA.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein orangegoldenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch intensiv malzig, fruchtig herb. Geschmack sehr mild fruchtig bitter nach exotischen Früchten.

22oz bomber- nice lemon aroma. Vanilla, citrus and a touch of pine flavor. Nice juicy pomelo on the finish, definitely a nice balance to the bitterness. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very sweet candy flavor with a nice malt quality. The backbone of this is definitely hoppy. A great beer.

Pours a crystal clear orange gold with a Rocky white head. Aroma is fresh citrus and pine hops. Taste starts off citrus mellows in the middle which fades to reveal pine and a dry lingering bitterness in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Alesmith. Pours a hazy gold with billowing white head. Lots of grapefruit and pine on the nose and tongue, very weak malt profile. Smooth and crisp, no lingering or off-putting flavors.

In my kegarator. It smells like an IPA, but not too strong. Golden copperish and clear. Tastes nearly perfect. Reminds me of a Smutty IPA only missing the grapefruit. Been drinking a lot of this and it is consistently better in my kegarator than the other cali ipas I’ve tried in it (Racer 5, Stone, Lil Sumpthin). This is a perfect house beer.
