COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Nice Fluffy head, very light orange color. I can see how this IPA gets its ratings. Considering that it traveled from the brewery in SanDiego, to Whole Foods Market in Portland, Oregon, and then stuck in a gym sock in a suitcase for the long flight home to the east coast with baggage handlers tossing it this way and that, it tastes pretty damn good! Perfect west coast IPA - the hops are way out front where they should be, lots of oily resin, great grassy citrus flavor. Between Stone, Green Flash and Ale Smith, (not to mention the frickin weather) I’m ready to move to San Diego! Why cant good weather cities in Florida produce IPAs like this? At least this brew helps me through another long Pennsylvania winter night.

Hazy orange with a huge fluffy white head, lots of lacing. Hop aroma of grass and citrus. Flavor is caramel malt with a lot of citrus and grass. Finish is dry, very hoppy but not overly bitter. A lively carbonation that brings out the citrus. Wonderful.

Pours very pale gold with medium white head. Aroma is fruity, citrus hops and sweet malt. Taste is delicious citrus hops with a light sweet malt finish and solid hop bitterness. This is an elite IPA.

Thanks to GatorGuy92 for sharing this one. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is light malt, big pine, and some grapefruit. Flavor is similar with a light malt backbone powering the hop assault. Light to medium in body and enjoyingly flavorful. Awesome off-kilter hop presence that still bring the malt forward for support. Interesting beer.

Aroma is earthy, piney, fruity, bread/malty. Appearance is a darkened amber with a medium foam head. Taste is a spectacular hoppy bitterness with a citrus/spice filled finish. Finish is a pleasing malty, hoppy border-line heavy body. Overall, lots of complex flavoring. Perfect balanace of malts, hops, citrus, and yeast.. This is a big beer, lot of flavor, tons of hoppy bitterness and nice light fruity/citrus undertones. I’d give this an A+ rating

Bottle from John’s Marketplace. Thin white head, floral and piney smelling. Very solid. Might have been over-hyped for me, but it’s really good.
