Commercial Description:
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Wow! Awesome smell of citrus and pine hops right away. Golden orange color with a good head. Taste is just as it smelled. Citrus/pine flavored hops. Floral sweetness. But well balanced. Great bitteness but not offensive... Extremely smooth. Soft on the palate which makes it so easy to drink. It just sits in your mouth....perfectly. Simple but great IPA. I only wish this was available in my area. I cant even imagine how amazing this must taste on tap at the brewery! So easy to drink. I wish I could give the texture/palate a ten. I like drinking it on the warmer side (50-55 degrees) Everything I ever wanted in a beer...All other IPA’s and beers will be compared to this, only to be let down. Thanks E! Sparky27. I would kill for this beer...dont tempt me.

Bottle. 22oz. pours a perfect golden color with lace for days. Mouth watering grapefruit and citrus hops. WOW! this nose is amazing. Bitter hops and large malt backbone. Nice grainy malt that just compliments the hops perfectly. Prefect balance that really makes you think about how well this is really put together. Carbonation is smooth and balanced and almost velvety. Great west coast IPA. Well done!

Aroma of resiny hops and citrus. Taste is also malty and somewhat spiced.. Malts take a back seat to hops. Mouth is light with some carbonation. Appears copper and has a white lacing head. Finish is not as bitter as would be expected. A nice brew.

22 oz bomber from adrian910ss, thanks Adrian. Pours a slightly hazy orangey amber with an average size frothy white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and slight grapefruit. Medium bodied that leaves a creamy mouthfeel and finishes slightly bitter. Flavor is alcohol, malts, bread and slight citrus hops. This is like the fifth IPA I have had in the last few weeks that has passed it’s prime. The hops in this beer faded quicker then Rudy Guiliani’s presidential possibilities.

Pours a wonderful cloudy amber/orange color with big carbonation which produces a decent head and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is resiny, orange peel, grapefruit, floral and carmelly sweet. Flavor is a wonderful combination of NW hops and caramel roasted barley. Has a nice hop bite but not as overdone as many California IPAs. Big sticky texture, finishes long and piney bitter. This would be my every day beer if I could get it!

Bottle thanks to LeopoldStoch, thanks for hooking me up Brandon. Pours a clear golden-copper color with a thick, rocky off-white head that left great lacing. Aroma of spicy pine and resin with nice citrus (grapefruit) back. Opens up with a nice citrus flavor and some malty sweetness that leads into a piny, resiny hop hit that fades slowly and lingers with some more citrus and fruity undertones. Feels great on the palate, just the right amount of carbonation and hop bitterness. Definitely a first class beer, thanks again for the bottle Butters, I appreciate it.

Aroma is citrusy, floral and light airy yeasts. Flavor is citrus, huge, in your face floral hops, light fruits, a balancing malt spine, so damn good. A big ass beer for being only 7.25%. Im a hophead at heart, but you tell me. Could this brewery have a more fitting name?

Bottle at patrick767 gathering. Small fizzy ivory head that mostly diminished, very little lacing, carbonation noted, semi-transparent, and an orange brown hue. Nose was caramel, citrus, pine, hoppy, fruity, sweet, and malty. Flavor was hoppy, Ditto for the flavor. Tingly mouthfeel and medium body. For not being a hophead, I truly enjoyed this IPA. It was a delight to drink, worthy of a try and I would absolutely drink this one again if the opportunity presented itself.
