cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 28, 2007 Going on memory from last night’s tasting. Intense hop aroma, big head, solid IPA flavor with some citrus and slight fruit character. One fellow taster even mentioned thinking there was smokiness in there, which is unusual. I do need to give this another try and do a more thorough and proper rating. But my impression is quite positive. grimreeser (795), Minnesota, USA Oct 27, 2007 Pours a light amber with a medium sized head. Aroma of citrus, pine, some malt. Good flavor, bitter but not too bitter. Very good IPA. hiddenvariable (194), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 27, 2007 pours a hazy honey with a big fluffy off-white head, with a bunch of little floaters hanging out. big floral and citrus hops in the smell, with bubblegum turning to grapefruit turning into a big milkshakey malt smell. taste is big grapefruit and a lot of that same tasty malt from the nose. finishes with big but not harsh bitterness. fairly full bodied for an almost chewy mouthfeel. with a bit more alcohol and maybe a bit more hoppy bitterness, this would be a double ipa. very big beer and great for a regular american ipa. reminds me a lot of the summer yulesmith. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Oct 26, 2007 22 oz bottle via trade with JCB. Beautiful aroma of pine, citrus and the requisite sweet caramel and toffee to balance the hops. I could honestly smell this beer all day. There’s also just the smallest hint of flowers as well. Pours hazy orange with a nice creamy white head. Good lacing. Knocks you over the head with some bracing hops initially, but the malt kicks in to balance a bit. It’s still quite hoppy, though. Lots of grapefruit and pine. Really fresh tasting. Rich and creamy on the palate with a nice dry, bitter kick on the finish. Tasty stuff! rayg1 (433), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Oct 23, 2007 Pours out a nice warm orange color with a thick light orange head. Aroma is sweet citrus, straight up grapefruit really. Throw in some pine and a bit of a flowery smell and there you have it. Taste is rediculously good the first thing you are hit with is a blast of sweetness so sweet at first it took me by surprise. Not to worry though, a second later the bitter grapefruit and evergreen taste rush in to save the day and blalance this guy out well. Very smooth to swallow, this beer goes down quick. Mouthfeel is about spot on and perfect to make this beer nice and refreshing. Don’t let me fool you though this is still pretty "high gravity" and you will notice once your done. sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 23, 2007 22 oz. Bottle. Amber, orange pour, long lasting white head. Great citrus and hops aroma. Flavor was a more intense hops and citrus. Truely a great IPA !!! estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 18, 2007 Updated: Oct 20, 2007Bottle. Amber body with hanging sediment, nice off-white head, piney nose with a hint of malt sweetness. Nice caramel malts balanced with PNW hops, silky mouthfeel, bitter but balanced. joekfsu (138), Boardman, Ohio, USA Oct 14, 2007 22 oz bottle, lots of yeast left in the bottle. Pours a orange, light amber. Lots of head, 2 cm at a time, white to slightly off white, long lasting. Aroma is sweet and strong with citrus, hint of pine. Initial taste is mostly overwhelmed by the sweetness, turning citrusy, then very dry from all the hops. There might be other components in there, but honestly when you dump that much hop-action in there, forget it. Aftertaste is very hoppy and long lasting. Light to medium body, very light carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden and drinkable. For the price I’d prefer something else, but maybe worth another drink down the line.
