Ramenen (453), San Salvador, El Salvador Aug 3, 2007 Thanks to Juancho. Pours a cloudy, golden color with a long head. Taste is complex that you have to have it at the right temperature. Hoppy to the extreme, but well balanced with the citrus taste. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA Aug 3, 2007 22oz. Bomber

I’ve been looking forward to drinking some AleSmith IPA. Finally getting my chance tonight. An average pour produced a half glass full of head. Letting it die down a little the head became very dense and craggy leaving big chunky lacing down the glass. The body has a very mild chill haze with few tiny carbonation bubbles swirling throughout. The body has a slight orange tint along the lines of iced tea. Very nice looking beer.
Very enjoyable aroma with a big but not overpowering pine needle nose. As it warms grapefruit rind comes forward. Biscuity malt lingers in the background and compliments the pine nicely. Mild alcohol vapors rise through and add a spicy note.
More caramel malt in the flavor than the biscuity malt that was in the aroma. The biscuity malt is there but takes a back seat to the caramel. The main flavor component is the hops, just like any good IPAs main characteristic is. Pine oils coat the tongue and linger on after the malt presence fades. As this beer warms the grapefruit becomes more pronounced. Again, very mild alcohol adds a welcomed spiciness. Very solid.
The mouthfeel is spot on. Medium body with a creamy airy texture. Nice bitterness on the swallow in the back of the throat. Exactly as I would want a good IPA to feel like.
Highly drinkable. In no way over the top which hurts the drinkability of other IPAs. Somewhat balanced but leaning toward the hops. After every sip you immediately want another.
A solid IPA from AleSmith. Perfect example of a left coast IPA. My first foray into AleSmith beers and it definately wont be my last. I just need to figure out how to get more.
7/1/07 beerme420 (50), Corona, California, USA Jul 29, 2007 Very good IPA, amber color with slight carbonation. Hops smell with a dry finish. Can’t go wrong with Alesmith bhensonb (4189), Woodland, California, USA Jul 26, 2007 Bomber. Strong mixed aroma of citrus and pine. No room for malt. Golden amber color with a frothy white head. It laces a little. Thin to medium body. Mild carbonation that turns creamy. The flavor is strong citrus, with a lesser amount of evergreen resin, and some malt sweetness lurking about. You have to focus to notice the malt. There’s fruit in the finish, but I’d say more grapefruit than stone fruit. Mild heat. Nice enduring grapefruit. It’s a good one. Could stand up to some IIPAs. Made my millenium. Damn. A surge of sweet malt just snuck in. Looks like it will vary with time. Cool. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 25, 2007 Cloudy orange pour with off white head. Decent lacing. Aroma is nice mix of hops, citrus and some grassy notes. Flavor is sweetness and hops...peaches as well. degrassi (30), cypress, California, USA Jul 22, 2007 Drank it out of a bottle before work the other day, probably should have actually sat down and enjoyed it. Strong in hops as soon as you pop the top. Let’s you know what to expect, and doesn’t let you down. A very nice IPA. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Jul 19, 2007 Bottle: Pours a clear, orange amber with a few suspended particles. Thick off-white head and thick lacing. Nose is simple enough, citrus and floral hops with a sweet maltiness. Flavor is hoppy, yet not overly aggresive. Citrus and florals go well with the malt presence. I expected more flavor intensity, but this is still a pleasant and top notch IPA. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Jul 16, 2007 bottled. like a milder version of yulesmith in its uniqueness. some grapefruit and licorice, apple, berry, citrus, and lots of hops. some vanilla, so freakin awesome.
