pours a lovely cloudy burnt orange with a decent frothy head
with slight lacing. The nose of grapefruit, orange rind, pure
citrus, and hops is quite delectable.
Well on first taste all you can really say is balanced.
Extremely balanced fruit, hop, alcohol. Same fruits as in the
nose. Very attractive hops not to tannic yet not to subtle.
Type of IPA you can just sit around and drink, and drink, and
drink, and drink, and finally pass out. MMM Delicious. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jun 13, 2007 Updated: Nov 19, 2007Pour was a slightly murky dark gold and pale copper color. The head was foamy, thick and ever so slightly off-white. Good rings of lacing. The initial aroma was a blast of citrus that smelled like fresh-squeezed orange juice. Butter and caramel as well as pine and floral hops are noted as well. The flavor was malt and citrus up front and pine bringing down the hop hammer in the back. Expectedly succinct finish. Nice, medium bodied mouthfeel. Very good. xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Jun 10, 2007 Updated: Aug 21, 2008Wow. The most amazing IPA that I have had to date. Pours a light, fluffy, golden color with an off-white head. Taste is of soft passion fruit and a little bit of pine. A very transitional IPA that goes from juicy hops to a sweet malt, back to a slightly pine hop bitterness. Nearly perfect IPA.

Another fresh bottle from Joey at South Bay.
Well, this one has the same passionfruit aroma with lots of citrus and a touch of alcohol kick to it to boot.
Taste is a lot more caramel and punchy fruit, but the fruit/hop note is subdued by the alcohol and bitterness until the very end, when it finishes creamy and smooth.
I don’t think I’ll change my rating too much at this point. I mean, it is an IPA.
Definitely a lot of citrus and pine behind the passion fruit.
848417 smhncabot (310), Cabot, Arkansas, USA Jun 10, 2007 pours a hazy deep golden with moderate rocky head. aroma is a huge pineapple, citrus and somewhat pine with some sweet malt behind. taste is big pineapple and citrus with some nice sweet malt behind. finish is wonderfully biscuit and citrus bitter. some soapiness to it but it is quite nice. this beer has a quite oily hop nature to the body but is quite refined. BigDaddyBlues (39), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 10, 2007 22 oz bomber bought at From the Vine. Loved the nose on this. I coould smell it as soon as I started to pour. A very lush looking orange brown in color. Hop heaven. One of those beers I will always keep around. JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 9, 2007 Dear Alesmith, may I make a proposition? If you send me a case or two of this heavenly IPA, I will promote your beer free of charge. That may not sound like much but let me clarify that I’ll do this in a classroom filled with mostly underage drinkers. Using the power of chalk and personality, I will sow the seeds of social degeneracy by promoting this specific beer, possibly the finest IPA I’ve had. I will talk about its lovely look, its huge mouthfeel, its immense flavor of floral and citrus hops and its pleasing malt heft. But mostly I’ll just corrupt the young (oh, and I’ll wear a sandwich-board too). sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jun 7, 2007 The Dan Journal #22. Tasted 5/30/07. 22oz bomber. Hazy and orange brown hue. Caramel malts and citrus in the nose. Zesty. Big citrus boom. Delicious! Tight palate. FnA. Nice malt kick with a bitter lingering hop finish. This is a tremendous brew! Absolutely wonderful! muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Jun 6, 2007 Bottle, split with NachlamSie. Pours hazy amber with a very tall fluffy beige head. Aroma is juicy sweet pineapple, grapefruit, and pine. Not very aggressive, just nicely stated. Flavor is very resiny, lots of sticky pine and grapefruit, with a sufficient amount of malty backbone. Mouthfeel is non-aggressive and actually fit for massive consumption. Wish I could get this more easily.
