It’s Pretty Awesome. A San Diego classic, AleSmith IPA showcases the versatility of American hops. Aromas of grapefruit and tangerine lead into an abundance of fresh pine and tropical fruit notes followed by a crisp, resinous bitterness. The complex hop profile is supported by a firm malt presence to create an incredibly flavorful and well-balanced IPA.

Clear golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is piney hops, nice fresh grassy smell as well. Flavor is strong piney hops, without being too sticky. Finish is surprisingly clean with a nice malt backbone. Overall, excellent, powerful but extremely well balanced IPA. This would be on my regular rotation if I could get it more often.

from bottle, poured a light hazy golden colour with a white head, nose of crisp malts, tangerines, sweet orange, sweet tropical fruits, citrus, light pine notes, earthy crisp mouthfeel, without a overpowered bitterness. clean, sweet aftertaste. nice

Draft. I’m not even going to break this one down. A good IPA is all about balance and harmony; it’s a Zen moment of suspension where bitterness, dryness, sweetness, and generosity meet in a single moment of carbonated satori. When perfect, it is extraordinary. When out of balance, it’s shite. There’s a lot more shite in the world than there is extraordinary. This, however, is extraordinary; one of only a handful of IPAs I’ve had where I said to myself, "Yeah, this is it. This is worth the hype." Go get yourself some.

Outstanding flavor. Almost an imperial IPA. Balanced flavor and bitterness. Had at the brew pub

On tap at brewpub. A clearish golden ale with a short lived white head. Aroma is grapefruit, lemon, lime and melon. Flavor is loads of fruits: grapefruit, lemon, lime and melon. Finish is very bitter, with flavors of lemon, grapefruit, lime and...melon. Medium body, soft mouthfeel and average carbonation.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2016 Malt forward ipa but very citrusy with tangerine. Flavor has pine. Bitterness is high. Just giving this one more attention because of the high acclaim... sacriledge, I know... Let’s see if it pans out... It’s completely cloudy and orange in colour. The head is 1/2: of frothy foam throughout the drink. The aroma ’has notes of’ "sounds nicer" malted caramel, citrus and pine. Its just too sweet with all that caramel for my non-American palate American.taste buds. This beer is great for America’s sweet tooth.6 on the aroma is really pushing it with all that sweetness. The forgettable palate cany be raised above 2. Tastes-wise, it’s hoppy, bitter and citrusy, all the cliches of an American IPA. I wanted to be a sheep with this one. My good taste just won’t allow me to inflate it any higher than originally rated.

This will likely have to re-rated. I’ve had this before and do not recall it tasting like the following. Bottle into a tumbler showing honey amber with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows orange zest with a malt undertone. The palate shows a lot of the same with a sharp IPA bitterness on the finish. Moderately carbonated and light bodied. Nothing terribly special.

Bottle 0,75l. Pours a slighly hazy golde. colour with a big thick white head. Aroma of piney hop, pinapple and tangerine. Taste is piney hops & grapefruit with really nice bitterness & some biscuity malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Originally rated on 10/2/08. My first Ale smith product, i had to have these shipped in by finewinehouse.com, overall i was pleased with thier service. Anyway back to the IPA, the aroma was wonderful with hints of pine, citrus, apple, malts and some floral notes being present. Apperance was a cloudy deep copper colored body, mouthfeel was thick and chewy. Flavor was similar to aroma with apple, pine and citrus sharing the stage, and the finish was malty. Overall a very good IPA, that is certainly worth your time.

pours a light orange amber with a thick white head that has great retention. Aroma has lots of tropical fruits and toasted malts. Flavor is much the same with a nice resinous back end. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Lasting dry finish. This beer is good but IMO a little overrated.
