It’s Pretty Awesome. A San Diego classic, AleSmith IPA showcases the versatility of American hops. Aromas of grapefruit and tangerine lead into an abundance of fresh pine and tropical fruit notes followed by a crisp, resinous bitterness. The complex hop profile is supported by a firm malt presence to create an incredibly flavorful and well-balanced IPA.

Pours golden with beautiful head that lingers throughout. Nice lacing in perfect pint glass. Aroma is sweet, hoppy and piney with some citrus character. Alcohol content gives a nice warming sensation. well balanced with maltiness. good mouthfeel with nice amount of carbonation to make it refreshing even considering the alcohol. content. Hard to find this beer in my area but will go find more. Hopefully it will be there tomorrow.

Aaahhh! Nothing like a fresh IPA! The bottle in front of me, that I bought from the supernaturally efficient Norwegian wine monopoly a couple of weeks ago, was bottled 24. April 2014. 24th of April last year! That’s more than 1.5 years ago! I realise that it’s a long way from San Diego to Oslo, but this is ridiculous! So, not surprisingly, the aroma is not as hoppy as I’d hoped for. However, the aroma is actually quite inviting, and I get intriguing DIPA-like notes of overripe tropical fruits and sweet caramel. Pretty strong flavour of overripe grapefruit, ditto tropical fruits, especially peach, some pine and lots of caramel. The taste is light to moderate sweet and the long-lasting finish is moderate+ bitter. Mid-bodied, dry and with a moderate carbonation. I actually enjoyed this one very much, despite its old age. Tastes like a moderately hopped DIPA.

Tap @ Mekong. Dark golden with ample head and lacing. I get a perfumy nose plus some light pine. Flavor is a little tropical and antiseptic then bitter. The deScription sounded wonderful, but I’m not getting all of that.

Flaska från Tychojames. Dimmigt gul med vitt skum. Fruktig och lite kryddig doft med ananas. Fruktig smak med cintennialkryddighet och balanserad beska.

Aroma has tons of resinous grapefruit, pine and citrus. Flavor is really well balanced with still tons of grapefruit, citrus and pine. Bitterness and sweetness is amazingly well balanced in this IPA. A true benchmark.

Bottle. Sensoric. Golden, little hazy with huge, white, semi-densed head. Perfect head retention and lacing. Medium citrus hops aroma - grapefruit, orange with some light to medium fruity and floral accents. Some light caramel notes in the background. Taste is medium to high bitter broken by some light malty sweetness. Pretty well balanced. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is semi-bitter and quite long. In overall pure, balanced and well made IPA. Beer mainly dominated by citrus hop, definetely worth a try.
