COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

From the moment you open the bottle you know this one is special. Cascade hop aroma dominates everything, however the malt keeps pace and is an excellent paring. The abv is perfect for this level of bitterness. An amazing IPA, it could easily pass as a double IPA. Great color, lacing, amazing mouthfeel. The aroma and flavor are almost all you can ask for. The hops shine with everything else strong enough to support with out overpowering. Its tough to be sure this is the best IPA in the world, but its easy to call it top 5.

There was nothing I did not like about this beer. It poured a nice brown and immediatly opened up with different scents. The taste is amazing, strong hops that went down smooth followed by a hit of citrus.

Poured from the bottle, cannot believe I’ve stumbled upon the number one ipa! the color isa reddish orange copper color. Nice head. Aroma is like fresh hops right off the vine! Flavour is also really good! Nice bitterness, balanced palate not too sticky not to watery. This really is a amazing ipa!

Huge nose on this beer which is a good thing. Great initial intake of the scents. Color is good. The taste is excellent. Enjoyable beer for sipping or for drinking casually. Goes very good with grilled burgers and hot dogs too.

On tap at Stone Bistro, from a very fresh keg. An exceptional IPA, a deserving representative of the IPA capital of the world (San Diego county). Pours absolutely beautiful amber, and the head retains very well. Wonderful balance of citrus hops with deeper spicy resin hops playing nicely together. Sweet undertones. Refreshingly dry and bitter, if you don’t like this beer then you don’t like IPAs. Easily belongs in my top 3 favorites.

A wonderful hoppy aroma. A lighter colored beer. Taste is extremely hoppy and bitter but delicious. Not much citrus or sweet flavors that usually come with an IPA....Still very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Would have to be at the top of the IPA list. One of the most complex aromas on any IPA I have ever had, with floral and citrus, and then the taste is smooth and not malty. You have to try this beer.
